U.k. honeymoon (self catering due to Covid rules, May 2021)

Theorganisedbride, 6 March, 2021 at 17:35 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 21
Hi all!

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or ideas of locations for a U.K. honeymoon in the first 10 days of May this year? Due to Covid rules then, it will have to be a self catering holiday/Airbnb, so I’m looking for countryside areas where it would be relaxing and lots of green and fresh air, but still close enough to pubs/restaurants for outdoor dining and drinking Smiley smile (don’t want to have to cook every night on our honeymoon!!)
Thanks in advance! xx

Great tip, thanks Tamsin! I will check it out. Have never actually holidayed in Wales other than a day trip to climb Snowdon and it was beautiful!! I’ll see what the next Welsh announcement says for their restriction roadmap, but they said they’d probably resemble England’s ??

Come to Northern Ireland! We have beautiful scenery and lots of pubs!! I'm not sure if it's possible with COVID, but if it is then it N.I. meets your requirements!

N.I would be so beautiful! Just cautious of any “overseas” travel atm, but will keep an eye on restrictions!

We've booked a Forest Holidays honeymoon! Look at their Golden Oak Hideaway cabins - gorgeous romantic cabins with private hot tubs. We feel it's perfect for a UK honeymoon - you can be busy going on walks or doing outdoor activities, or some days just relax in your hot tub enjoying each other. The cabins are equipped for you to do self catering, or there's a informal restaurant on site (not sure if it'll be open in early-May), or you can even have meals delivered to your cabin if you don't want to go out one evening. And there's lots of extras like couples massages you can add on.

I'm so excited for ours - we go literally the day after we get married ?

Glad to help Smiley smile I got so excited when we found it, we booked it straight away! Seems perfect for a UK honeymoon, especially before restrictions have completely lifted! We booked a couple of months ago before we knew what the rules would be for those exact reasons (though luckily for us we now just about fall into Stage 4 (late June) provided there are no delays in the easing of restrictions).

Hope you have a lovely wedding day and honeymoon, whatever you do!

Last september my parter and i went away to Scotland for his 30th birthday and stayed in the speyside area. It was perfect as lots to do outdoors, beautiful countryside (we walked part of the spey way), he loves whiskey and so visited a couple of distilleries and some fantastic places to eat locally. I highly recommend this! We booked and stayed in 2 different places, one self catering and one was a room in someones house and honesty we had the best time and the trip cost us very little!

If you are interested have a look here for more info on the area and what there is to do: https://www.speysideway.org/

We just booked a mini moon with Forest Holidays in September as it’s the best reviewed for COVID sensitive refunds and postponement. What did it for me was the hot tub and the Forest vibes, plus it’s in Cornwall and we love it there!

We’ll have to cook but I love cooking and I seriously do not mind that as we can bring whatever we want with us and be as self sufficient as needed!

Here are some pics of the place we had, we were really considering Forrest holidays also so I don’t think you could go wrong with either, what swayed it was the extra facilities like restaurant on site and activities we could do

There is a lovely self catering resort on the Isle of Wight called Woodside Bay Lodge retreat. It is right by the sea with lovely coastal walks, and where the Isle of Wight is so small its very close to everything. There is a restaurant and gym on site and theres even a private beach. They offer lovely self catering lodges with and without hot tubs, my fiance and I are staying there in April, and I am really looking forward to it. In the spring time outside of school holidays is decently priced too. We are staying in a Winford Premier with hot tub Smiley smile We booked through hoseasons.

Is travel to Isle of Wight allowed? I need to look at the rules again.
Might be a good option for my honeymoon end of April 21.

Yes it is still domestic travel and under the same restrictions as the rest of England, I am going mid April just after restrictions ease further.
