Unhelpful wedding venues

LittleMissPlanToPerfection, 2 July, 2020 at 19:19 Posted on Planning 0 2

We are due to get married on the 24th October 2020, we realise that this is a tough time and no one knows what is happening with regards to the current situation and restrictions from COVID, however we feel that we have been very unsupported by our venue, communication has been poor, and their plans for reserve dates, leaves us feeling that there is a big chance we could end up with a day that is not what we want. We have tried to speak to the venue but still seem to be getting nowhere. Does anyone have any advice which may help us with this situation? TIA

    Hey!

I hope things have improved with your venue - have they managed to be anymore supportive?

Clearly with your day a month away, and tighter restrictions in place, your wedding is now what is called "frustrated" and the terms and conditions of the contract you signed should no longer apply. If for instance you had in your contract 100 guests, and now you are limited to 15, it is frustrated, and you should get your money back, less admin expenses, which in your case don't sound a lot.

We finally managed to postpone to May 2021, after a tense few weeks, in the end the venue swapped dates like it was no problem at all, which luckily is £500 cheaper than our original date.
