Quite a few people I know who have got theirs, don't use it, and I won't use mine.

I haven't worked towards it, well I have in the sense I put the three years in before I graduated, but I haven't in the sense I've done no extra work.

Agitated by you? Don't flatter yourself! I actually have been out to lunch. I stopped posting your messages because you were being lazy and I'm not your personal message poster!

Nah, those ones are all MAs. "Proper" Cambridge masters degrees are mostly MPhils, though there are some MScis/MEngs etc.

"MA day" is mostly an excuse for a reunion and a bit of a piss-up. I don't put MA on my CV because medical staffing people round here don't understand it.

Quite afternoon here so have only just caught up with this 'saga'.

I still don't get the whole degree thing... I have a BA Hons (which took 3years and was done by 22), my MA would've been a further 3-4years so 26 (now) and I wouldn't have a PhD yet!

My PhD was finished when I was 26 years old. Had I taken a year between undergrad and PhD to do an MSc, that would have meant three degrees by 27.

Am still massively intrigued by a 3 year MA though. Is this standard for MAs? At the risk of sounding rude to those who did this, why didn't you just do a PhD?

Ah no, not eyes. Developmental biology - in layman's terms, studying signalling factors that are activated to make a specific region of a very early embryo develop into the back and the head.

I moved into studying eye development during my first post-doc.

My friend has just finished her MA which was 2years (Child Psychology) and my MA would've been at least 2years as it was a slightly different subject to my BA.

Oh, maybe not - I must have misinterpreted what was said on here. If he had an intercalated BSc as part of his imaginary medical degree, that also means he didn't go to Oxbridge as all ours are BAs (yes, I have a BA in Biological and Biomedical Sciences, how logical...)

Still pretty sure it's a BS story though.

I think I recall that he bailed on his imaginary medical degree for a BSc so you're right.

Nah, it's just specialism of knowledge, I think. I might know what makes a baby have a head but I don't know how to bake a cake properly.

I think you'll find Imperial College runs pretty competitive medical and business schools - I'm a graduate of both.

Not meaning to blow my own horn or anything of course.

(I also hold and/or am studying towards qualifications from UCL and LSE).

Is that enough information to end all the speculation? I certainly hope so ...

    Thank you Smiley smile

P.s. from all this you may also have ascertained that I'm a Londoner!

In fact I have some LDN (london) number plates too! Hoping to sell these at some point during this Olympic year!

    H15 LDN (His London)

    H32 LDN (Her London)

    M7 LDN (My London)

    Thank you.

    Are these degree-level qualifications?

So, how many degree do you actually HAVE, as opposed to STUDYING FOR?

I genuinley do not understand why anyone would pay extra for a numberplate, you can't even see it when your driving anyway! I have better things to spend my money on. I refused to even pay the extra for a custom paint colour on my car (stuck with the standard white, red or yellow on offer for nowt). My car gets me from a to b, that is all.

Have 4 qualifications, studying for another 2 (one of which is the PhD) ...

In summary, (as people seem to want this info. for some reason)

    *3 degrees

*3 diplomas (2 of which are honorary, the other is at post-grad level) ...

I can email you my CV if you like?! hahahaha

    p.s. I forgot about one of the honorary ones so I guess it's technically 6 post-nominals ...

On my walk into town at lunch I saw a Mini One with the reg x 20E 1. I had a little chuckle to myself as it reminded me of you Reg (because it's a sh1t plate!)

Even if you did "get" what they said, I am not sure why you'd want to have MY LONDON on your car.

A name I can just about understand - I might have S4 RAH for example, but the London ones would mean nothing, surely?

    Not true - these so called 'novelty' plates are becoming extremely popular. A variety of reasons;

1 not that many 'name' plates around that truly represent what they are supposed to (unless you want to pay £100k++)

2 some people like to have 'fun' with their numbers and avoid the pretentious/vain name and/or initial ones

3 some people have multiple cars and want second, third and fourth number plates

4 some use them for business marketing (there are many 'My London' companies for instance)

    list is endless ...
