Upset/angry at driving instructor.

22 September, 2008 at 09:58 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 16

I just got into my learning car as I do every week, to be told that I hadn't got any more lessons in credit.

I wouldn't mind this, but they sent me a letter in the post stating I had lessons up until the end of October booked, and I had a lesson last week and he didn't say anything.

I was just sat there and had to explain that I couldn't afford to pay the £50ish for two hours as my Dad paid for my lessons.

The thing is that my Dad won't be paying for anymore and I can't afford £50 a week on my £180 a week salary.

I'm really upset that they didn't give me some warning so that I could save up to pay for the rest. I was doing really well, too.

I'm probably being unreasonable but I'm sat here in tears, I've been trying to do this since I was 17 and now I can't do it...argh.

Sorry.

    Have a hug ?

Can you not save up for a bit and restart again soon? Or maybe go down to one hour a week till you have a bit more spare cash?

Jo - have you got the letter that they sent you? You need to take it up with the agency as if they're sending you letters that are wrong - which you're going by then they need to sort their record system out - especially if you're relying on that letter to organise savings.

Hope you can sort things out!

Did the letter say you were in credit up to the end of October or just that you had bookings?

What a pain. Could you drop down to one hour lessons?

Is there another company/test route you can opt for? We have about 4 here we can pick from. It's a shame to stop now - maybe another company would be cheaper or let you ahve hour lessons?

    ?

Oh thats a bugger, maybe this lady can step in and help? It might be you speak to her and ask if you can ahve hour lessons and then maybe 2 two hour ones before your test to do the run throughs? That will give you more time to save for those?

I hope it works out ?

    Hi Jofalke,

I know of an instructor near you who does hour lessons, I can PM you the number if you want?

I must pick the cake stand up but we have had a round of chicken pox here so I have been confined to barracks as such, being as soon as one child recovered from it the next one went down with it.

I asked him and apparently the lesson length is to do with where the test center is.He said it took about 20 mins to get there from cov and 20 mins back which would leave you not a lot of time to drive round the test routes.

Do you need to have lessons on the test route now? Why not book some local 1 hour lessons and once you have your test booked then have some 2 hours lessons around the test routes?

That's crap. I live in a large town and they have just closed our local test centre too. So new students will have to have 2 hour lessons to learn the test route in the next large town.

    Hugs to you ?

i know how you feel, i also have to have 2 hour lessons, and my instructer doesnt seem to get/care that i am a student and work for agency, therefore have no det income, he seems to think i have an indisposable income and 40 a week is nothing when its almost all i have.

Id go with the other offer, definatly dont give up you have come too far xxx

Why do you expect him to care? He's offering a service, if you decide to take up that service, you pay for it. It's not his business or problem how you pay for your driving lessons. If you can't afford his lessons then you need to find an instructor you can afford.

Ditto for the original poster - I know how draining driving lessons are but it's up to you to keep track of the payments, not the driving instructor. I'd check with the school to make sure your instructor hasnt been misinformed given the letter.

I paid mine on a week by week basis as I couldn't afford the cheaper block booking. Maybe that's what you need to do too.
