Vaulty Manor Help! Essex wedding venues!

gemmat87, 23 June, 2011 at 13:47 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hi everyone I wonder if anyone could help me - im really struggling to find an essex wedding venue that has everything im after - nice surroundings, marquee/barn, accommadation - doesnt have to be a must but preferable.

I found a venue vaulty manor that im going to visit this weekend but ive had some bad reviews - surroundings arent nice and photographers struggle to get good group pics, food is bad etc!! I just wondered if anyone had got married there or been to a wedding there? Any help/advice would be most appreciated and any other venues that fit my description!! Many thanks Gemma

Never visited Vaulty Manor....I can't think of any barn venues with accommodation to be honest with you, have you considered looking at hotels/stately homes? I am on the border of Essex & Herts so places I have viewed might be too far for you...I know there is Maiden's Barn in Essex somewhere, but I don't know it and didn't visit it. I visited Pontlands (I think that was what it was called...) which was a hotel with room for a marquee, then there's Prested Hall which has lots of options and you get about 10 rooms accommodation.

    Whereabouts in Essex are you?

THere is also Crabbs Barn, but no accommodation there I don't think.

Hi, I really wanted a barn and preferably with accommodation on site or near by. We are having our reception at Channels Golf Club, Chelmsford. That's got a barn and accommodation.

Other barns we looked at: Sir Hughes Barn, Great Baddow and Maiden's Barn. Neither of those have got accommodation tho.

Vaulty Manor is v expensive! Our quote there was more than double any other we received.

A a friend of mine got married there before I knew her also had some problems with the then wedding co ordinator.

Type Essex wedding venue into Google and it will bring up lots. Also check out Leez Priory which is gorgeous and Orsett Hall.

The Reid Rooms reception room is barn style and lovely, and it has a farmhouse on-site where a limited number of guests (ie B & G and key members of wedding party) can stay, and there are hotels/B&Bs a short taxi journey away. There is a balcony area where the photographer can get up high to take the larger group shots.

Crondon Park is lovely barn-style venue, but not sure what accommodation is like around there? x

Thank you for your replies, im happy with a barn or marquee just somewhere with a bit of a wow factor!

Ive heard leez priory is super expensive and that they dont offer discounts at all unless you leave it to the last minute!

Really liked the look of vaulty manor online but the bad reviews are putting me off!!

Mulberry House in High Ongar also, definately worth a viewing, has a garden room, marquee, gorgeous accommodation and they are very reputable for their food!

Might be biased as its my venue but we are getting married at the Fennes, lovely location, old fashioned rooms inside and 2 marquees at the back of property. It has 8 bedrooms and the bridal cottage is to die for!!

Not sure what your budget is, but there are some really good packages and the staff are amazing. Tried to flash more pictures but not working properly!

Have you tried 'the manor' in hornchurch http://www.themanoressex.co.uk/ that has accomodation. I am getting married at top meadows golf club, obviously its not a mannor but it has accomodation and is really reasonable and set in some beautiful surroundings...

Others I liked were, Friern Mannor, Olde Plough House, Orsett Hall, Channels and Maidens Barn...

It is amazing!!! I've heard that the staff run the bath for you too for when you retire at the end of the night! I'm very excited!
