Toriaplum, 24 February, 2009 at 13:42 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

Hi

driving today and I noticed on the dashboard the light was on, looked it up in the book and it is the exhaust emissions warning light. Book does the scare bit phone vauxhall dealer immediatly etc. I contacted my mechanic and he is coming to look tomorrow just wondered if anyone else had this before or may be in the know. really worried It is going to cost a lot of money which I don't have.

Thanks TP

Not quite the same, but i had a corsa, with the same problem,

I think its a vauxhall thing.

Mine was under warranty, think they eventually said it was an electronics problem with the dashboard, rather than an emissions problem.

Happened 3 times to my car.

Think it was fairly simple to fix

Not that I can remember, although the car always ran differently, as i had so many problems with it.

It was a brand new 04 plate. 6 weeks after getting it, exhaust light had came on. Couple of weeks later handbrake snapped whilst on a hill! Timing belt snapped at 8 months, then replaced again at 2 years old. 2 new exhausts, further new handbrake at 3 years old.

One week after it went out of warranty, i part exchanged it for new car.

Wow thats not good, take it the next car wasn't VX. I have to say I have been very lucky so far with this car have had it almost 4 years and nothing major so just know that it is going to be down hill from now on especially as we didn't want to get a new one when the loan was paid off we wanted to save the money.

Oh well I guess we will find out tomorrow.

Not a VA but on my Hyundai the engine check light came on and whilst expensive to fix wasn't as bad as I imagined, so hopefully you'll be fine.

I do have an old Vauxhall Astra Estate though which is about 14 years old now! Starting to fall apart but it's so much easier to fix ?

    No, next car wasnt vauxhall.

Reason for getting corsa, was that my mum has one and hasnt had any problems at all with it.

According to AA man that retrieved me when timing belt snapped, there was alot of problems with the 04 corsas.

Hi! I completely understand the stress when dashboard warning lights appear, it can be really worrying. While I can’t give mechanical advice, I wanted to share a positive experience from another area that might help if you’re also interested in electronics or optical projects to take your mind off worries. I recently purchased a 976nm laser diode from Innolume, and the process was smooth and reassuring. The store offers high-quality diodes, fast delivery, and the staff explained everything clearly about safe usage. It’s been a relief to have a reliable supplier for 976nm laser diode, and knowing you have trustworthy products makes stressful days a bit easier.
