Vegas hen do ideas

goldpants, 1 August, 2013 at 18:59 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi people - a friend is having her hen do in Vegas next year.

Anyone know of any reasonanbly priced places to stay with a party atmosphere? Or things to see/do?

She has never been before so is clueless! The cost of the flights is eating into the budget so she wants to stay somewhere wallet friendly.

Thanks Smiley smile

    Hi,

A vegas hen do yaaay...I'm hoping to do the same myself...I LOVE vegas!

Most of the hotels are lovely and are fairly reasonable compared to other cities. I'd just recommend staying somewhere near the centre of the strip. We stayed at the Venetian last time we went and loved it. Caesars palace is great as it has a fab shopping mall attached. Planet Hollywood and Mirage have great locations and are usually pretty reasonably priced.

As lovely as they are I would avoid places like the Luxor and Mandalay Bay as they are at the far ends of the strip so it makes it difficult to pop back to the room to freshen up or drop off shopping bags.

What month are you planning on going?

You will be spoilt for things to do but I recommend catching a vegas show while your there and if you can then squeeze a trip in to the grand canyon.

    xxxx

I haven't been to Vegas for a hen but I was there on a cheapie holiday type thing (almost ten years ago now so prob very different to now) and what we did was stay in cheap hotels and then just ambled over to the ones on the strip and took advantage of what they had to offer! I would suggest picking hotels on the strip - at the cheaper end - just make sure they have air conditioning as if you are going in the high summer, you need to be able to come in from the heat! If you don't stay on the strip, it will cost a lot in taxis to get back on to it so bear that in mind when booking. We then visited the other hotels, kinda like a pub crawl thing(!), to see their casinos and all the other stuff. We went to the Stratosphere, Luxor (the pyramids), New York New York (rollercoaster), The Venetian (mini Italy), Mandalay Bay (for Mama Mia!), Bellagio (took in the amazing fountain with some cool jazz playing & people dancing in the street!) all have casinos and are great fun. Also would suggest picking one with a pool - of course I'm assuming you'll be going there in good weather, if not, perhaps no need?!

Hey I went to Vegas a few years ago, although it wasn't for a hen party it was a girls holiday. We stayed in Caesars palace FAB location right in the middle of the strip I agree try & keep away from the ends of the strip as it quite a long way from all the action, Vegas is great for women if you want to go to the clubs, you constantly get approached by people working for the clubs asking if you want put on the guest list, Also women usually get in for free! ?Pure at Caesars is a must, also the palms has an fab club right on the top floor which is set back from the strip so you can see the strip from the out door terrace amazing view

We also did a show defiantly do this if you can we went to see Peepshow when Holly from the Playboy mansion was in it fab show!

Any questions just ask, I may not be able to answer everything but i'll try x

    Hi

I took my sister for a surprise hen do last year, had an amazing time! We stayed at the Signature Suites at MGM Grand. It is at the far end of the strip near the airport but to be honest we never really found it a massive problem. We took taxis quite a bit, with 4 of us in a taxi it didn't cost too much. Signature Suites was fairly inexpensive, the rooms can sleep up to 4 adults and we had a good view of the strip from our top floor room. It also connects via a (fairly long) walkway to MGM which has loads of shops, restaurants, bars and a McDonalds open all night! Our flight home was cancelled at the last minute and Virgin put us up at the Tropicana, also at the far end of the strip. That had a much more 'budget' feel but it was still okay - you'll barely be in your room there is so much to do!

We managed to fit a lot into a 4 night (turned into 5 nights!) trip. Highlights were Thunder from Downunder at the Excalibur (near MGM Grand) - I am not usually into male strip shows but this was hilarious, a great night out for a hen weekend. Also loved the Cirque du Soleil Mystere at Treasure Island and Wet Republic pool party at MGM Grand - try and blag a day bed with no minimum spend from a promoter - as the previous poster said you will get approached a lot by club promoters and if you don't mind sharing a table usually with a random group of men you can get in for free (and then ditch the table!).

We had a really nice meal on what was supposed to be our last night at Circo at Bellagio with a table overlooking the fountains outside. Also had a nice meal at Diego at MGM (Mexican). We saw the Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian which was excellent. Shopping at Caesar's Palace is also a must (and have lunch at the Cheesecake Factory - yum!). Try to fit in a visit to Fremont Street (old LV) to see Glitter Gulch and the neon Cowboy sign, great for photos - about 10 minutes in a taxi from the strip. Have your picture taken at the 'Welcome to Las Vegas' sign, that's at the end of the strip near Mandalay Bay.

We went to Hyde at Bellagio, Bank at Bellagio and XS at Encore at the Wynn, I wasn't so keen on Bank but really enjoyed Hyde and XS. Try to get guest list for any clubs you really want to go to to avoid paying entry and queuing - the queue at Marquee at the Cosmopolitan was ridiculous (the one club we didn't manage to get guest list for that we wanted to try!).

If I could go again i'd love to stay at the Wynn, really beautiful hotel. Also loved the Cosmopolitan, Encore, Venetian and Bellagio. But on a budget i'd save the money for spending when there and just stay somewhere less expensive anywhere on the strip.

    Have fun!

Hi - you are so lucky to be going to a hen do in Vegas! My fiancée and I went there in February to watch our friends get married and he proposed to me in the Grand Canyon!

Its an amazing place so much to see. Helicopter ride over canyon and strip is good but can be pricy plus it's only 6 to a helicopter. We wanted to go to a pool party but obviously none are open in February! We had a lovely meal at the Stratosphere and would definitely recommend that.

You HAVE to go to Freemont Street... It's basically 'old town Vegas' and its near the drive through chapels etc. there is a massive half pipe LED screen that runs down the strip and plays tributes every half hour or so ( Queen/Bonjovi etc)

We stayed in the Luxor and it was great. It's at the bottom of the strip which was good because we just had to walk up it and there was no "which way shall we go now?!" - plus it's slightly closer to the Vegas sign! We want to go for our 1st anniversary and are looking to stay in the New York hotel because its just really cool and has its own roller coaster! There is also a Cayote ugly bar in there. The nightclubs in the hotels are brill because if you catch the front of the house, girls get in for free and get free drinks.

Its such an amazing place you will have lots of fun!

I went to Vegas last year for my 30th birthday, it's a great place.

Do not stay at the end with the Stratosphere, that is nasty, old, run-down and a tad dodgy. Stick to the Planet Hollywood area. That's an ok hotel, quite young and party. I stayed at the Aria, which was on a special deal on Expedia, with Virgin flights. Very nice hotel, modern and clean, big rooms, big beds.

If you fly with Virgin, the plane we were on was OLD and bad. I've never had such a poor experience with Virgin. The movies only played on loop, so you had to wait for the longest one to end before any others would begin, the night flight home was too cold, they couldn't adjust the temperature, and had no spare blankets. The food ws pretty awful, it smelled bad, and was generally a bit of a grubby, old plane. I know another friend who had the same experience last year with flights to and from Vegas on Virgin. So just be aware if you're booking with them to make your own entertainment for the flight - it's a 10 hour flight so be prepared.

In terms of actually in Vegas, there are loads of fun things to see and do. Often just seeing all the hotels is a good day trip or two. Stopp off for Numb in Caesar's Palace (slushie cocktails in funky containers), see the fountains at the Bellagio, there is also usually a funky display in the Bellagio to be seen, the Venetian is great to walk around, you can go on Gondola rides but they are pricey, there is a bar called Parasol Up, Parasol Down in the Wynn that is next to a pond/fountain which is nice on a hot day. Lots of shopping centres, 2 outlet centres at either end of the town. You can go up the Stratosphere for views, and there are rollercoasters up there - but Google them and see if they freak you out!

You also have to go and see the sign - there is one at each end. There is usually a guy there with a camera who will take your picture and then email you the J-pegs for a few dollars. We did it, and have some really fun shots, very cute, great if there's a big group of girls together.

Oh we also went to see Thunder from Down Under at the Excalibur. We got tickets on the day from one of the ticket stands opposite the Aria hotel for a good price, and had a great time. Pure cheesy harmless fun. Worth it for a good giggle. Just dont sit too close to the front unless you want to go on stage and be rubbed, and rub them with baby oil! Smiley smile
