Vegetarian wedding breakfast ideas?

Wherts2b, 19 of October of 2011 at 16:26

A lot of our guests are vegetarian (myself included) and Im looking for some inspiration for menu ideas! Our venue doesn't have a lot to offer and is open to suggestion

That sounds lush. I think you can't go wrong with a bit of mozarella and pesto as most people like it. Though I'm sure some would like to contradict!

    What W2B said! AJ you're a fool.

Anyway I'm thnking of menu options for you here (and my mouth is watering LOL) Starters could be....caremelised red onion and goats cheese tart (made with filo so it's lighter and crispier), chargrilled vegetable salad, haloumi with smoked beetroot and green salad, mushroom crostini, brie and tomato tart... Mains couold be mushroom wellington, vegetable crepe, mediteranean veg stack with either salad, rice or potatoes, pumpkin or butternut squash ravioli with sage and blue cheese.....

    In reply to the OP-

We gave our guests sausage and mash- the veges had vege sausages and gravy- all the same vegetables so no "mis matched" food.

I have had the vege option at the last 2 weddings I have been too as I diddnt like the meat on offer, duck at one, lamb at the other. I think if you had a choice of vege food then it would not be an issue and I doubt your guests would care tbh!

Oh it's ok, I'm used to either my religion or physical appearance being used as insults aginst me when people run out of anything useful, meaningful or sensible to say in a discussion.

Actually, I'm not a great fan of pork pies anyway, the pastry is always too thick for my tastes.

I genuinely don't think Wherts2B was making a personal or in any way directed insult towards AJ. I could be wrong. But I saw it as an off-the-cuff remark to someone declaring a overriding love for meat products.

I dont think Wherts made the comment about Pork Pies because AJ is overweight (hope you dont mind me saying that AJ but I know you have described yourself as that) I think it was just a meat foodstuff- could have been "get back to your chicken/ham/steak"

I diddnt read it that way anyway.

I quite like a pork pie, especially if it's still warm. Think I prefer meat and potato though.

    Random posting i know.

Disagreeing with your lifestyle choice is certainly not an insult.

Dismissing someone's lifestyle choice as secondary to another's is something of an insult, no?

We're having potato and leek soup (meat free, obviously) as our starter and H2B and I are the most carnivorous people around..

I lost the will to live on page 5.

Didn't the OP say that the main course would contain meat but they would be grateful for suggestions for the vegetarian option?! I don't see the problem with that, but I have no suggestions....I'm off to read the one about Money Envelopes...

We're a summer wedding so fingers crossed soup would be too hot for the day! Plus, couldn't risk spilling it down my dress ?

? There is a pasty shop in our town that does all sorts of flavours, even veggie ones. Maybe pasties would be an option for starters.

Good point. Ours is October, it'll probably be minus 5 degrees if this week is anything to go by (slight exageration maybe) so people will be grateful for something warm in their tums!

Last Christmas, we went to a hotel for our work Christmas meal, and, despite being a massive meat fan, I actually opted for the vegetarian option (this is basically because I refuse to eat turkey on any other day beside Xmas day!). It was this quiche type flanny thing with leek, mushroom, 3 cheese & other stuff. It was AMAZING!!

I knew someone who had a cornish pasty cake. A huge one for the 'top' cake then lots of little mini ones for everyone to eat.

Nor your husband in the morning!

There's nothing worse than waking up next to someone who's had an overload of garlic the night before. ?

I don't do the garlic smell thing. I know you're thinking "Yeah yeah, you don't *think* you do the garlic smell thing" but I have conducted vigorous tests on willing volunteers after munching my way through cloves of the stuff. Nobody has detected that nasty garlic smell (allyl methyl sulfide) on me.

I'm not sure if that makes me a genetic freak or if tabs mask it Smiley smile

You could always get this if you really want your red wine/tomato soup!
