Veil length - can't decide!

FutureMrsT123, 11 June, 2017 at 20:47 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi all,

I ordered my dress last week, it's a lace fit and flare by Enzoani. When I first went into the shop and found it I tried a fingertip veil, which I loved (I knew I wanted a veil - makes me feel soooo bridal!) however when I went back in to try it again the lady put a long veil on me - I think chapel length? Just past the train, and I loved it! Made me feel so special and loved the drama! Now I'm really torn between the two lengths. The long one had that wow effect, but I think the shorter one would be more practical - I really want to wear my veil for as long as I can on the day, cos when else do you get to! Worried the long one might get in the way. I also want the back and the train of the dress to be seen, I'm having lace capped sleeves added to make a bit of a v-back. Here's a pic of my dress! Just wondered if any of you lovely ladies had any advice on what length you would go for!

I've just been researching this myself, just a few hours ago infact, and I was having the same debate believe it or not! The chapel length is gorgeous and it does give all the drama. However it might take away from your dress as like my dress yours has back detailing. Also it's long enough for guests and your groom to step upon trips and rips suck. Veils are expensive, but tulle is fairly fragile so I personally came to the conclusion that a finger tip would be essentially more practical. Less likely to get ripped and it won't hide the details of the dress. Personally speaking I'm so clumsy that I imagine the chapel length one, by the time I get to the wedding breakfast it will have gotten caught on something, someone will have stepped on it and I'll have just had enough of the darned thing, so if you're anything like me, the finger tip is the way forward. Just my thoughts. :-)

I had the same dilema, so I've got two veils! I want to wear a veil pretty much all day if I can and loved the chapel length, however, it's so long I know I will want to take it off after a couple of hours. So, I'm wearing that one in the church and for photos etc. Then when we sit down for the meal I will wear my fingertip length one and I will hopefully then be able to wear this one into the evening. Because I bought 2, the bridal shop gave me the second one at cost price.

Ah thanks for the advice guys! It's a tough one, glad I'm not alone in debating it! I'm thinking fingertip might be most practical , but I'm going to see again when I have my fitting and see if the fingertip ticks all the boxes when the dress fits properly!

having said that though, I suppose wedding dresses aren't very practical in themselves either!

Wow. That is a stunning dress. ??

I tried quite a few veils on (originally i wasn't having a veil, i didnt like them and thought they were old fashioned) i ended up with a chapel length one. I loved it. I didnt wear it all day though, i cant remeber why i took it off, but the husband was wandering around with it on for a while. ?

Ah thanks Mrs M! I definitely love the look of a veil and the chapel length is a gorgeous style! Hilarious that your groom had it for a while, I wouldn't put it past mine to do the same!! ???

I think it is great the shop discounted it for you. I am having the same dilemma, really would like a cathedral length but fingertip is more practical. I don't think I can justify to my OH having two but it would be awesome!

The chapel length one was fairly pricey to be fair so the other one in comparison seemed like nothing!

Before I decided on having two, the lady at the bridal shop mentioned that they can make them with a detatchable piece, so you can remove the longer layer later in the day. Could be something to look into but then again may just be as expensive as getting two!

That's a great idea! I am after a front piece so presumably this is the bit that gets left behind ?

I will ask about that thanks
