I have recently got engaged me and my fiancé aren't really traditional people. Not really into the idea of having a traditional wedding with a wedding breakfast. Having a look at venues and packages in our local area but struggling. Anyone know any venues in the north west/Lancashire that will offer a more unique wedding package that won't cost the earth

You'll have more flexibility if you have your reception separate from the ceremony. Get married in a church or registry office, as appropriate, and then look at non-wedding venues for your reception. Either go for a village hall and get a caterer or catering vans in, or book a function room in a pub. (If you're not having many people, the latter option would be cheapest. Our venue just charged us the cost of the food, no room hire)
