Venue adding additional costs

LuxuriousYellowConfetti79, 22 April, 2014 at 19:46 Posted on Planning 0 3

We have decided on a lovely wedding venue and paid the deposit. The problem is I want to add small tweaks to the day and the venue are trying to charge me a lot of money for things I know they can source cheaply or we could supply but they won't let us - any advice??

What are the 'small' tweaks and the costs they are proposing? x

Thank you for the welcome ?

    Things like...

we wanted to change the wedding breakfast meal from their options - still chicken based but cooked differently

we wanted to bring in a speciality drink as a favour (instead of chocolates or another food item) but because it's a drink they want to supply it, which means it's 4 x the price we could have purchased it ourselves for.

You can't win on the favour, so don't push it.

You really need to pick your battles - if it's chicken in a slightly different sauce, then take that up as your fight for a change without added cost. If, of course, you are trying to get pan fried chicken for 100, instead of oven-cooked chicken for 100, you ain't gonna win that battle either. It will completely change how their kitchen runs on the day, and how many staff they need.
