Venue changing rooms around

Carmen, 21 October, 2021 at 14:16 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 1
Hello, we’re getting married at a venue that has a lovely orangery where the wedding breakfast will be and then the evening disco after. Our venue have now said the disco is too loud for the orangery and will now be in a smaller bar room, which is very small. Part from getting married the disco is a massive part of the day/evening for us. Can anyone help with where we stand?

If your contract specifically called out that the Disco would be in the Orangery I think you have a case with them for legal frustration. If theu have held events in there before and took your booking on the basis that that's where it would be I do think you would have an argument to try and get some sort of reduction as they're not able to offer the service that you are paying for and are being now given a much smaller space. Again if they have had discos or similar events in that room before why now are they saying it would be too loud? Can your DJ have a sound limiter to meet their agreed noise level? I would suggest just having a chat with them being honest and telling them how disappointed you are because that was one of the reasons you booked the room and see what they offer
