Venue charging more for postponing (covid-19)

Hi all please can you share whether your venue is charging you more for moving wedding to next year?

We were due to get married on end June and have now postponed to the same weekend next year based on all the uncertainty, keeping family/friends safe and my self employed partner losing his work with final sums due imminently.

Our venue (The Olde Bell Hurley, Berkshire) were very helpful with moving our date but <24 hours later when we confirmed all suppliers could move (yeay) said they'd be using the clause in our contract on menu prices to increase the total price by 10%! I was shocked by this amount and tried challenging, they said we could wait and see beginning 2021 how much actual food/drink increases were but could result in bigger increase! In the end I agreed to 10% on the package excluding the value of the included rooms (so actually 6% on total package) only if they removed that clause from contract and contractually agreed to our extras (additional rooms, evening buffet etc) at current pricing.

I don't feel good about it to be honest but pleased it's over and done with and I can stop thinking about wedding/the guilt of stressing about wedding at time like this! Please let me know how others got on too?
