Venue deposits.

belindacoles, 17 of November of 2009 at 16:54 Posted on Planning 0 15

Just wondering how much people deposit people had to pay to confirm their venue and what type of venue it was?

Im looking at a barn and they require £2500 deposit, in 14 days... which is going to be near impossible to do!!! ☹️

    I love your name and photo - I love Woo-Woo's!!! ?

Thanks girls, nice to know that I am not the only B2B having to pay a high deposit. Did look at a hotel which was a £500 deposit, guess mine is steep as its a barn.

Ours asked for £500 + VAT deposit (£575). We paid off the full venue hire charge amount + VAT (£2990) so we could pay the cheaper VAT rate - dont' forget, it goes back to 17.5% as of miodnight on 1st January...

We're going to pay the minimum food and drink spend before then too as on the whole, it saves us around £150 with the cheaper VAT rate.

Inalein, just wondering where you are getting married? Only if you want to share of course, just as I see you are in West Lothian and my venue is in Bathgate, it's The Vu, just wondering if I have a venue twin lol :o)

We paid a 50% deposit for the barn and the last we can settel the balance is a month before I think (but we are doing it at the end of this year to keep the 15% VAT)

    Hi all
We have set our date in feb 2016
    Im new to all this
We have picked our venue that we both love,
And we are soon off to pay our deposit.
We got a package deal at a good rate of £2100 for the venue (60 guests in day and 100 evening)' ceremony, 3 course wedding breakfast, table decorations, chair covers, mc, and evening reception and food)
However, the deposit required is £1000
Thats nearly 50% deposit of the cost, is this normal do you think?
We have just realised, that to secure other things for the day e.g. Registrar, photographer, cars, entertainment, suits etc will require deposits also and its quite a big chunk so early on?
    What do you all think!

    Michelle

We had to pay £4,200 within 14 days! £1,800 was the catering deposit and the rest was the venu deposit.
