Venue help

Tamlyn, 20 October, 2021 at 18:52 Posted on Planning 0 5
Please help me…. My fiancé and I are planning our wedding. We’re both South African, so family coming from there, but have decided to have it here ( I can’t organise and plan a wedding from here - I’m an admitted control freak). So we’ve agreed on July 2023, to give people as much notice as possible.

We know exactly what we want. An outdoor wedding, blessing ceremony and reception, possibly a marquee or tipi. We have immediate family coming over, and I’m trying to find somewhere Where we can accommodate the family, plus hold the wedding, without costing the earth (around the North West). Does anyone have any recommendations or thoughts, outside the box? Currently everything is coming back in excess of £8k and I can’t get my fiancé to see that that’s what it’s going to cost to get what we want

I cant suggest in your location as I am down south but my cousin hired a field and then hired in big bell tents for everyone to stay in and had loos etc bought in. they had a huge marquee for the actual reception. Not sure if that would be an option, it took a lot of organizing as they had to bring in a bar and caterers so a lot of work but it was a great day and they had exactly what they wanted. Sadly the cost is always going ot be high and 8k seems a good price. Our venues and food etc is coming in at over 10k, but we are having a different ceremony space which is an old ruined castle so we get the outside ceremony and then our reception venue is a hotel so guests can stay. Maybe an option to look in to

Thank you, that’s actually a great idea. I hadn’t thought of bell tents and making it a camping thing.

Hi Tamlyn, I'm not sure where in the North West you're looking but as a venue stylist in Cheshire I can give some suggestions local to us:

Cheshire woodland weddings - 15 acre woodland venue with outdoor woodland chapel and on site camping

Stock Farm (Tatton estate) - a converted working stables with woodland and gardens for outdoor ceremonies and on site accommodation

Duddon mill farm in Tarporley - outdoor marquee and tipi wedding venue

Grangefields venue in Derbyshire - Restored barn wedding venue

Style lodge - lake side lodge wedding venue

The oak tree of Peover - rustic barn style venue with outdoor ceremony space

Heaton house farm - private countryside location with gardens, outdoor ceremony space & on site accommodation

Grange barn - rural countryside barn wedding venue

Good luck with your venue hunt!

If it's not too far out, there's a place in Bolton called the Wellbeing Farm which does outdoor ceremonies.
