Beginner December 2022 Essex

Venue Price

Olivia, 11 January, 2021 at 18:59 Posted on Planning 0 7
I wonder if anyone can help because I am clueless! I got engaged in Nov and we really want a Dec 2022 wedding.

I have had my heart set on this one venue for a few years, they usually offer package deals but December is the only month they don’t! They have quoted us £10,000 just to hire the venue.. with nothing else.
I have had quotes from other venues at £15,000-£18,000 for 80 guests, 3 course wedding breakfast, DJ, cake etc so I am really not sure how much this would all cost separately if I went with my dream venue, it seems a lot just to rent the space?
How much have you paid for your catering, DJ, cake etc? I am based in the South East.
Thanks!

I’m not entirely sure whether this is a reasonable quote or not... but I’m in the south east too and our venue and catering, drinks etc. is all coming to about £10,000.

We’ve only got about 60 on the guest list and this is not including cake or entertainment, which suits us down to the ground but obviously will reduce our costs. But I’m guessing that, with 80 guests, it would probably be more like £12,000.

I’m getting married in Surrey, and our venue has a relatively high venue hire cost. However, they have a choice of six competitively priced caterers and no corkage, so the cost came out on a par with comparable venues with no choice of caterers and their own drinks/corkage.

For 120 guests, we are looking at £8k for catering (canapés plus three courses and more evening food, including the staff to serve food and drink) and then under £2k for daytime drinks (but we have deliberately over catered can take home what is not drunk!)
So if you could get a similar deal, it is in line with your other package quotes (bearing in mind your 80 guests v. out 120), but if you are tied to the venue’s catering and drink prices it could easily come in at a lot more.

Just to add, this is all in addition to the venue hire cost, which is on a par with your £10k.

Wow that must be one amazing venue to justify that price. We are having a Sunday wedding, exclusive hire small castle with marquee and grounds. Hire only 2500 (including bar staff, pa system, chairs, tables, plates, cutlery etc.). But thats scotland so maybe cheaper die to that? Catering for 80 people (3 course meal 80 people and evening snacks for 120) will come in at 3k if we are allowed that many people. That's june....

I’m also south east, venue is 2500 for a Sunday (Saturdays was 5500 max) and then looking at a total of around 10k for everything
Our venue has their own chefs so it works out a little cheaper for us than hiring in caterers.
We found venue hire alone averaged at around 4-5k for the ones we looked at

I’m looking at venues in Hampshire and Surrey and the one I’m currently considering will be around £15k for venue plus accommodation for about 10 people, booze, wedding breakfast and evening food (pizzas). That’s for a Saturday in August. My fiancé is sweating at the price ? I don’t even want a big wedding but he does!
