Hello,

Our wedding venue told us today that they will only accept a BACS payment for our deposit.

We were hoping to pay on credit card so that we would be covered under section 75 should anything go wrong with the venue between now and 2022. We can't get any wedding insurance and so I really don't know what we should do.

Has anybody else had any issues like this or know of a way for us to find some sort of cover?

Thank you!

Lucy

    Hi Lucy,

A slightly old thread I know, but I'm just interested in what your final decision was and how you feel about it now? We are looking at venues for July 2022 and I still feel nervous about parting with cash!

    xx

We are getting married in July 2022 as well. We have so far paid a few deposits and all by BACS —£500 for venue, £200 for car, £649 for registrar, £50 for DJ. It all adds up! And none of it was on credit cards. I haven’t heard of places accepting credit to be honest. It’s a tricky situation but we are hopeful that things will run more normally by 2022. I feel for people who are having to move their weddings by 12 months or so. I haven’t bothered with insurance as I doubt it will cover you with Covid situation. In my experience insurance always fail to pay out through a loophole ?. Fingers crossed I guess!
