Venue with sound limitation

Sarah Nicolosi, 3 February, 2022 at 17:47 Posted on Planning 0 6

We are hiring a venue that has a sound limitation of 92 decibels. Now, I know nothing of what this means. Have you been to weddings in the past, or have you recently had a wedding that had a sound limitation? Did it hamper the party at all?

Would appreciate any advice!

Thanks a million!

A bulldozer is about 85db so 92 should be fine for a wedding. I went to a wedding with a limiter and it was on a wall so the DJ could see it, but it did go over a couple of times and the music cut out for a minute while it reset, everyone had a bit of a laugh about it so wasn't a big deal

That’s interesting- never heard of this kind of thing! And to think the DJ had to watch his set for going too loud! Not an issue at our venue as it’s not near any residential buildings.

85dB is usually the limit for work environments, so 92dB should be plenty! I just googled council noise limits and there’s a page from decibelpro.app under the heading ‘what level of noise is acceptable from neighbours’ which had some info which might be useful for you Smiley smile

I think the one we were at was due to the age of the building, the sound vibrations could have damaged the bricks or something odd like that!

That doesn't sound too bad. I didn't realise it would literally cut out the music! But if it was a funny moment, I'm sure we can overcome if it should happen! Thanks for the advice!
