Venue without venue hire fee?

Hi all, just at the start of our wedding venue search and I’m shocked by how much venues charge just as a hire fee before anything else is added.

I wondered if anyone knows of any venues in Essex or Kent that do not charge huge hire fees? I am all for spending the money but would rather redistribute it elsewhere, like at the bar!

We found The Compasses at Pattiswick very reasonable. We noticed that it also depends on the budget you have and what time of year you’re looking at getting married ☺️
