Walking woman?

Ahh this is driving me mad...what was the name of the woman who walked Africa (or possibly the world) and there was some doubt about whether she actually hitched a lift with her support car? Was it Jane something? Have tried googling but to no avail.

    Nope - not her - this woman was in her mid-thirties? Don't think she was married - had blond, long hair and claimed she was raped about nine times on her journey but I'm sure she was exposed as having lied about it all?

    Thank you - I was starting to think I had imagined it - it was years ago so may have been as many as ten. I'm sure she may have released a book about it all but can't find anything about it...

    Im thinking Paula for some reason, but I may just be confusing her with Paula Radcliffe as she was slim and blonde.

    It was definitely FFyona Campbell. I've read all her books on the walks after reading about her in the paper. She walked the length of Africa from the Cape to the Med, and she walked across Oz too, and Europe, but she hitched a few lifts in the US. I think she's gone back and rewalked all the stretches where she cheated, not that it makes a difference. She didn;t claim to have been raped in the books, though she may have in the meeja of course, but she has a picture in her Africa book (with a big cut down her face) from allegedly being attacked in Morocco.

    *nerdy fact* She walked some of the way through Africa with Ray Mears.
