We knew each other for over a year before we started dating. It was actually a bit of both... we met at school and were friends, then lost contact for a long time, it was more lust at second take x

We spoke regularly but it took about 5 months before our first date and not much came from that. I went to work abroad for the summer and that was that. Eventually in October we realised we should be together.

We met and became great friends pretty quickly. We went out with our other friends every weekend and he even moved into our uni house with us. I was seeing someone else which turned very nasty for other reasons, I started going on dates with other guys from dating sites and he was dating also. It wasn’t until our other friends cornered us both individually at a party while we were both single and said asked how we actually felt about the other. - and the rest was history. 8 years together, a house and a 5 year old son.

He made the journey all the way to Birmingham, eager to meet her in person and see if their connection could truly live up to the countless late-night conversations they’d shared.
