No one deserves to be shouted at in the street for thier appearance, that's not just applicable to fat people.

I still maintain that we all make judgements on appearance without knowing the background to that person, that's life. And yes anorexics are frequently shouted at in the street and told to have a sandwich so it does cut both ways.

I think when someone mentioned "making mountains out of molehills" earlier I think this was the point: this all kicked off because the word chubba was used, and now this seems to be equated with verbally abusing people in the street.

You are entitled to find the word "chubba" offensive/disparaging/you pick. But acting like use of the word chubba to describe someone (not to their face) is the same as verbal abuse and bullying is what is making people go wtf.

Also bearing in mind that the original response to the chubba comment said that her size has nothing to do with her wearing leggings (when plenty of people on this thread have said they feel that leggings are not attractive on bigger people, which is a fair enough opinion to have - we all have views on what we find attractive) and that it was "fat shaming". I'm still not sure what is shaming about it when it was just a personal opinion being expressed and not something she has said to her face to humiliate or demean her.

LEGGINGS ARE NOT TROUSERS! They look minging when worn as such whether on a size 8 or a size 28. I do agree with the comments that they look worse on larger folk though. This is because a size 8 naked ass tends to look better (IMO) than a size 28 naked ass, so when covered with a flimsy stretch of cotton/lycra, this still applies.

Having been rather large before and now a healthy weight I think I can safely say that being fat is a lifestyle choice for most whereas being short is not.

Wearing leggings whilst sporting a fat ass and gut is so much more comfortable than trying to inch your thighs into a pair of rigid, unforgiving jeans. Leggings were a wardrobe staple while I was preggers (especially the ones that come right up to just below your baps), but were always worn with a tunic.

I am not overly keen to see the underwear of anyone in the street. Fat, thin, young or old, I'd rather not be faced with your pants thanks.

Fat or thin, leggings as trousers is a no unless you wear a longer top or dress. Why? 2 words: camel toe. 'Nuff said

I love seeing fat people in leggings. Highlight of my day. Especially after a meal.

This! I don't want to see that you're wearing a thong, French knickers, girls boxers, Spider-Man pants etc. just cover your arses and front bottoms when wearing leggings and don't wear a pair too small for your size (whatever your size may be) as it's even less appealing!!!
