Wedding Abroad Europe - How did you find it?

Hey everyone,

Newly engaged girly here - EKKK! I was wondering if anyone had their wedding abroad and what your experience was like?

I've been inspired by my best friends wedding, who had her gorgeous venue in Mexico - I am currently looking into Greece myself. I was just wondering was it hard to organise, or did the hotel do most of it for you?

I've got two hotels in mind currently, but still open to other options as we are planning for April 2027 .. so lots of time to plan. Was it hard? What was the legal process like? etc? How did you find the decoration planning? etc.

I got married in Mauritius and it was all fairly seamless.

Everything was taken care of for me, by the hotel and my Travel Agent - The Holiday Artist. Right down to my bouquette, which I LOVED.

I just had to turn up with the dress and my groom. We also had 10 friends and family join, and whilst they initially said it was expensive, they left feeling like it was worth every penny and the best holiday they'd ever had.

I am 100% glad I chose a destination wedding. For one, the pictures are incredible. I would never have had those kind of shots here in the UK. For two, everyone enjoyed it so much more than a formal wedding. For three, I saved a pot load of money. Insteak of 15K+ just for one measley day, I spent about 12K+ for everything and got a lush two week honeymoon included in that price.

Our TA was exceptional. Dealing with the hotel on our behalf and ensuring our wish lists were taken care of. Much less stressful than trying to deal with and wait for answers from the hotel directly. Their destination knowledge was also invaluable. We felt very prepared with what to expect as they had helped organise many weddings there before.
