Wedding Anxiety

Kirsty, 9 May, 2023 at 08:47 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hey, just looking for some advice from anyone who has had their wedding already or who is week away, like me.

I have been pretty chill throughout most of the wedding planning. I had a small stressed week at around 4 months to go, but that was due to a particular supplier issue.

I am now only 3 weeks from my wedding and I suddenly become a ball of anxiety. I haven't slept properly for days because I cant seem to relax enough to sleep. My brain keeps playing out all these scenarios of the wedding day and it keeps me up. I'm not worried about anything specific about the wedding, I'm just generally anxious about it, but I am not sure why.

Has anyone got any advise on how to deal with this?

I go swimming regularly, which takes my mind off it whilst I'm in the pool, but then I feel anxious again by the time I get home.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated Smiley smile

I'd recommend grounding - walking barefoot on grass, a park, your garden, going into nature - meditating - definitely taking lots of time for yourself. xx Another thing that's good to do is simply writing, soon as you wake up in the morning, (make time to do it) - by hand, on paper - literally whatever is in your head - get it out on paper, even if you just repeat I'm so stressed I'm so stressed I don't know what to do, etc you w ill eventually got bored of writing that and write other stuff - then literally recycle it, burn it, read it again - whatever you want, (I'd advise not to dwell on it!) and doesn't have to be first thing, just if you do do it first thing then its all that chaos and stress - OUT on paper for the rest of the day so hopefully keep you calm and most importantly highlight what you might be worried about so you can process it xx also tapping, EFT - have you ever tried that? I'd highly recommend that. Your emotions are there to tell you something. listen to them, hear them, and find out what they are telling you and process them, don't let them control you xx and enjoy your wedding - it'll be awesome xx

Totally normal—last-minute wedding jitters hit even chill people! Keep swimming, but add 10 mins of slow deep breathing before bed to quiet your brain’s scenario loops. Write down random worries on paper then toss them—physical release helps. Also, carve out 15 mins daily to do nothing wedding-related—watch a silly show or snack. You’ve got this!
