Wedding Bands In Scotland?

leanne-b1982, 6 March, 2009 at 23:07 Posted on Planning 0 15

HI Guys,

I've been having some problems getting a really good wedding band for my wedding in November! I've left it a bit late. The firs band I saw (www.auroraweddingband.com) were absolutely amazing. I heard them play at a wedding, but as they were the first band I saw, I didn't want to jump straight in. So I took a few weeks to look at other bands. I couldn't find anything close and so went back to Aurora, but by that time they had been booked by someone else!!!! Arrrrrghhhhhhh!!!!!

They were really really nice but obviously can't do anything. They gave me some other bands to try, but TBH I'm not impressed at all! They are available the day before I get married and I'm honestly sooo tempted to move everything back a day to get them. H2B wanted to book them the night we heard them, so I'm getting pelters from him just now!!! I already know that my venue is free the day before but I don't know if i'm being daft!!!!. But before I do this, can anyone give me ideas for a quality band?

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? If anyone here has booked Aurora for November 14th this year, name your price!!!!!!!!

Hi Leanne, I'm in Glasgow too. Can't help with the band I'm afraid tho. We're having a dj as all the bands we liked were just so expensive! Good Luck

Aurora aren't cheap, but I'm just really into my music and think that they'd make the night for me, they play lots of really current tunes and a really big mix of tunes. The wedding I seen them at was absolutely bouncing!!! The only people not on the floor were the hotel staff!!!!

    Hi,

Braw Wee Chanter is the best person for band advice so hopefully she will be along soon. I'm having BWC dj and solo sing but the bands that I would have choosen are Fudge Machine and First Class Showband.

    Hi Gems,

Thanks very much for that. I enquired with fudge machine who seemed ok, but they only play for 2 1/2 hours when you book them from 8pm-12am!!!!! And they're about the same price as Aurora.

Had a look at the showband, they are ok, but a bit too cheesy for our taste!

We are way up North (elgin way) - we were recommended Callanish for a band but we couldn't get them for the date we wanted. They are Edinburgh based

    Lol,

i really am. H2b really wants them and says he's not bothered about our wedding date so long as it doesn't cost him money in deposits!!!!! Ahh, nothing like the loving support of a man!!!

Do you think I'm mental to change my date for a band (allbeit an amazing one!!!!!)

I wouldn't have changed my date but then we aren't really into music and having our wedding on the Sat was more important then a Fri for example. If the music is really important to you then you need to do what you feel is right and then ultimately have the day you want.

To be honest? Yes!! If you're getting married in November, then I imagine you may already have booked quite a few things. In my opinion you'd be daft to lose deposits on these for the sake of a band, especially the way things are at the moment. Then again what do I know I wasn't prepared to fork out the money for one in the first place

    Hi ?

Weeeeell, slightly controversial advice from me but if you can get things agreed with your other suppliers and you won't lose any deposits, I'd change the date. It's not entirely uncommon and you clearly love them. If you feel they'd be the icing on the cake so to speak then I say go for it. I think Aurora are pretty great.

As an aside, I now sing with First Class and I can honestly say that the cheesy impression you may have had couldn't be further from how they actually are ( I know I would say that but I pride myself with being one of the most straightforward, occasionally bluntly so, Hitchers). They have a new band line up which is much younger and fresher and the songs in their set have changed dramatically recently, making them much more contemporary. They also do Hitched rates ?

Another band I think you'd like based on what you've said is Ernest - Young, cool and a great frontman.

Good luck with it, If you need any more help, give me a shout.

Thanks for that BWC. I've had a look at earnest and they look quite good. I think i'll try and see if my other suppliers can help me out before I do anything drastic!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks everyone for your advice!

    Discount for Hitchers. ?

Check with your suppliers. It's November, hardly peak season so I think you might get lucky and be able to switch dates.
