Wedding breakfast options on website

Lizzie, 18 September, 2023 at 07:15 Posted on Feedback to Hitched 0 4
Hi,
We have created a website and did not enter wedding breakfast choices as it’s a BBQ but I’ve just check RSVPs and guests have been able to select ‘beef’ and ‘chicken’ …! Any idea how to remove this?
Thanks,Lizzie.

It sounds like the RSVP setup on your website is still showing default meal options even though you intended to have a BBQ instead of a traditional wedding breakfast. The platform you’re using might automatically include typical meal choices like beef and chicken unless those fields are manually removed or hidden. One approach is to check the RSVP form settings and see if there’s a way to disable meal selection entirely, or replace it with a custom option like “BBQ – please indicate any dietary requirements.” If you’re looking for tips on managing these kinds of website adjustments or improving site structure more broadly, I’ve found resources on a linkbuilding platform really useful for small tweaks and guidance. Also, make sure to test the RSVP form after changes to confirm guests can’t select the default meals anymore—sometimes cached versions of the page can still show old options.

If your site uses a caching system, it may be displaying old data. Make sure to clear the cache or refresh your website after making the changes.

    Hi Lizzie,

This usually happens when the RSVP form is using a default meal selection field that stays active unless manually disabled. Most wedding website builders (like Hitched, WithJoy, Wix, etc.) preload options such as beef/chicken/fish unless you switch the field type to “no meal selection” or delete the menu choices entirely.

    Here’s what you can try:

    1. Go back into your RSVP form editor

    2. Look for a section called Meal Options, Food Choices, or Guest Preferences

    3. If your event is a BBQ with no choices needed, simply:

      • Delete the meal dropdown, or

      • Change the field type to a simple confirmation question

    4. Save & republish the form guests won’t see beef/chicken anymore.

We ran into something similar when organizing our own event. While adjusting the form, I also used resources like the hampton by hilton breakfast menu as an example of how to present food info clearly without overwhelming guests.

Hope that helps once you update the form, those extra food options should disappear for good!
