Wedding Budget - So expensive and Overwhelming!

Hi all, feeling a bit overwhelmed here trying to plan our 2025 wedding! I'm looking at barn style venues in Cumbria/The Lake District for late August/Sep, have decided midweek to try to cut back. We have around 70 people, the venue we like most is £6k midweek, food is so hard to gauge as a lot don't show upfront costs, I'm guessing at least £5/6k just for the day, drinks for the day will be another £2k at least, then photography, flowers, table & chair hire, decor, evening food, accommodation. Costs are stacking up to over £25k! I see lots of people saying they have managed to get really good deals and I am just wondering if at this early stage I'm missing something and my maths is way off? Any advice would be so welcome xx

Hitched have loads of helpful articles about planning weddings on a budget, so it's worth checking them out. But the best advice I can give is the thing I say all the time - remember that apart from the stuff that's necessary to getting legally married, everything else is optional. So if something doesn't mean much to you, don't be afraid to cut it out completely or simplify it. There is so much hype and pressure to spend loads of money on weddings, so make sure you only spend money on the things that are important to you, not on the stuff that everyone else tells you that you 'have' to have!
