Wedding cake as dessert

We are serving ours instead of having a “proper dessert” (as my sister said!). Because it’s cake with buttercream, our caterers have said they will serve it with chantilly cream and a seasonal fruit compote to give it a slightly more dessert-y feel. Personally, I’d eat cake until I popped, no matter whether it was a real dessert or not!

Our friends had a sort of ice cream cake and did the cutting then served it themselves to their guests. It was lovely! We are planning a brownie stack made by us instead of a traditional cake and then serving it as dessert with our evening BBQ.
