Wedding Cake Flavours

Ola, 3 January, 2013 at 22:58 Posted on Planning 0 20

Hi all,

I can't decide on what cake flavour to have.

H2B wants mini individual cakes with 3 different flavours.

He normally likes vanilla but he doesnt want that.

I was thinking of having red velvet cake, white chocolate and raspberry and maybe a strawberry one but th elast sounds so plain.

I want something quite nice and unique. H2B hates COCONUTS....

What wedding cake flavours have you tried or are having?

That might not be such a bad idea as am sure there will be people wanting the traditional wedding cake i have never tried a wedding cake so don't know what it tastes like

I never got the fascination with red velvet cupcakes its just cake with added red E numbers

Another vote for choc orange here

    Lemon and raspberry

    apple and cinammon

    Carrot cake

We're having three layers: traditional fruit cake on the bottom, carrot cake with cream cheese filling in the middle, and lemon cake with a lemon curd filling on top. Yum, I feel hungry now!

    Hi All,

What do your cakes look like on the outside - are they sort of traditional white icing, but with yummy flavours inside?

I've been thinking I'll have to opt for the traditional wedding fruit cake - until I seen this thread!

I haven't seen our cake maker yet, but will be soon and would like to go with them with at least a few ideas / suggestions if possible.

Otherwise I fear they will just sell me the easiest option (i.e. fruit cake!)

Hi august-bride-2013 - yep, mine have the traditional icing on the outside (in cream rather than white, but still the same idea). Definnitely go with some ideas...and be sure to ask for samples, that's the best bit!

    Oooh lovely.

I guess I keep envisaging the icing tasting a certain way that will only go with fruit cake or something!

I hate icing so haven't tried any in years :-)

I don't like sweet stuff or cake so we had a three tier pork pie! Nip to a wedding fayre for samples or see if local cake places will do a tasting session, I think some will do them if you book in

We are having boring flavours: Vanilla teir and lemon 2 tier.

I like the sound of strawberry! Compared to mine, it doesn't sound plain lol.

We're having 3 tiers of rich fruit. The bakery lady was a bit "er, oh, um, that's traditional". Yep, we both love fruit cake and it's our flipping wedding so that's what we want and sod any fussy people that don't like it! Smiley winking
