wedding cake topper

MrsLMtobe, 11 January, 2014 at 21:52 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi ladies, I'm after some inspiration please.

Struggling to find a wedding cake topper that I like. Cake is ivory with lace and pearl detail, wedding theme is hollywood glamour (but not bling if that makes sense).

Like the idea of figurines but the cartoon style ones arent really 'us' - at a total loss what to put on the cake and would like something different

Thanks

    Have you looked for initials?

We have silver initials with small diamontes on. We bought them at the national wedding fair from ivory and co.

You should try Kharv who is a listed supplier here. Think her name is Kate and her website is Love on Top

We aren't having a topper or she would definitely be getting a request from me!

edit: she beat me to it! Oops!

    Hi there,

If you go onto Pinterest and search for "old hollywood cupcake toppers" there's a gorgeous concept of having black and white cut outs of old movies stars which works really well. The image board is actually for cupcakes rather than a main cake, but I'm sure you could make it work - I personally love all the beads dangling down from the cake stand too :-)

Good luck, and let me know what you go for!

    Mary

I had the same as I couldn't find anything that suited my theme which was elegant handmade vintage.

i decided to make my own toppers from polymer clay which I still have proudly sat on my mantelpiece.

I have made a few more clay figurines since but this one is still my favourite by far Smiley smile

They are not cheap but we are going to www.myminiyou.co.uk

They also then make a lovely keepsake!

We saw them at a wedding fayre and they are so superb we decided we would allow ourselves the extravagance (in comparison to the rest of the wedding!) We have gone for personalised and have them playing instruments as we are musicians :-)

One example online one copied here for you to see easily how good they look!

You had mentioned you like figurines but not the character based ones.

Would you be interested in the more anonymous bride and groom figurines - such as porcelain ones, that have a sense of elegance inkeeping with the cake and theme.

Or alternatively the Willow Tree friends

My mum got me a perspex heart topper for our wedding cake off eBay. It was personalised with our names and wedding date and sat amongst the sugarcraft flowers.
