We are just starting out planning our wedding for next march.

The only 'musts' are the couple getting married, the officiant, two witnesses and the paperwork. EVERYTHING ELSE is optional!

Ok, if you are inviting guests then they will expect food of some kind, but that doesn't have to include cake if you don't want it to.

    Thank you.
I just wasn’t sure if people expected cake or did the bulk of it go to waste??

Most weddings I've been to, the cake was enthusiastically eaten and if anyone didn't want their piece, there was someone else who was happy to eat two pieces! I guess it depends on your guest list - if you have a load of guests who are on diets then you might have a load left.

Fruit cake tends to keep better, but I think a lot of people these days prefer sponge, so you might find more of that gets eaten.

If there is any cake left over at the end, you can always appoint someone to take it home so that it doesn't get wasted.
