Wedding carpool/car share?

Weddingjuly2023, 7 November, 2022 at 20:37 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 2
Hi everyone,

Getting married next summer and we are having a church wedding, followed by a reception at a farmhouse in the countryside! The nearest train station to the church is 35 minutes and the nearest train station from our venue is 20 minutes. It's also a 20 minute drive from the church to our venue (reception).
I have a number of friends who are planning on taking the train to our wedding, I'd really like to help them out in terms of getting to the church, then the church to the venue etc. I've thought about creating a car pool group on Facebook to see if people are travelling from the same area to the wedding and might have a spare seat/like to save money and car share. It will also help on the parking front! This will also help people that need a lift from the church to the venue. Has anyone done this before and if so, do you have any tips? Foes anyone have any recommendations of how this could be done e.g. Through a wedding website?

Honestly, people know there is travel for weddings and to different venues and will be able to sort themselves out, so please try not to worry, no one will expect you to do this, as much as it is great you want to make it easier for your guests, personally I would let them sort it themselves. If you set something up, i can guarantee you will end up organizing it and running it with people messaging you all the time and you don't need the stress. I guess you could set up an event on Facebook and invite your guests to it so they can comment and state if they can give a lift or want one and they can then sort it out between themselves. or if you have a BM who is willing to organise it then they could set up a WhatsApp group and manage it but it is a lot of pressure!

That sounds like such a beautiful plan for your wedding, and it’s great that you’re thinking ahead about helping your guests travel comfortably. I’ve seen people use Facebook groups or even shared spreadsheets to coordinate rides, which works really well when everyone is coming from different areas. Another nice touch could be arranging a limo hire london service for the bridal party or close family to keep things smooth and stress free. It adds a touch of elegance and ensures no one worries about directions or timing on the big day.
