Wedding Cars - Bridesmaids

MrsJFC2be, 2 June, 2015 at 12:20 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi everyone, please can I have some advice on wedding cars.

I am booking a wedding car for me and my dad to take me to the venue, my fiancé is staying at the venue the night before with the best man and his dad. I am unsure whether to hire an additional car for the bridesmaid and mother, I see it as waste of money really as my three bridesmaids are all young (below 10). Would anyone recommend booking a taxi and asking them to put ribbon on the car? My dad is a taxi driver so I could see if any of his friends would do it! Or would you just hire a second traditional car?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thank you,

Laura

I’m just going to book a taxi for my BM’s and Mum (going to ask them to put a nice ribbon on it if possible though!) If I had the budget I’d love to book them a car – but I figured that no one is going to really see them arrive anyway, as that’s all the car would be used for, whereas the car I’m taking with my Dad will be taking me and H2B to the reception after the ceremony.

I never considered not booking them a car. I may reconsider now though! It's a lot of money for no one to see the car!

Depending on the travel time between house and venue 99% of the time the car will do 2 trips once for bridesmaids and Mum and then come back for bride and Dad.

If its too far say 1/2 hour then partners of bridesmaids can be enlisted

I say 1/2 hour because if its a 1pm ceremony then they will have to leave at 11.30 so that you are there in time.

    11.30 leave arrive at 12..00

car back to you for 12.30 to arrive at ceremony with bride and Dad at 1.00

I dont think you need a second car, when I was a BM last year my OH drove me and my sister. My BM is driving herself, she wants her car with her the get home the following day. You could book them a taxi of see if someone will drive them.

What about the parents of your three bms? My little flower girls and page boys went with their mums - we didn't even bother putting ribbon on the car!

Oooh might not be possible all the time, because even with two photographers - one could be with the bride and another with the groom at or in or behind the church and due to the bridesmaids being late or early the act of them arriving can get missed especially if the layout of the church prevents line-of -site from where the photographer is to where the bridesmaids are unloading.

But whenever the couple are paying for multiple cars I always like to try to get a shot of them all together and usually the best place is at the reception like this one at Prestwold Hall in Leicestershire

I'm getting a car for my BMs because the ceremony is in a seperate venue to reception. Had everything been in one place i probably wouldn't have.
