Wedding Cheese Cake?!

katie000, 2 June, 2012 at 11:23 Posted on Planning 0 10

Has anyone else done this? I'm talking about tiered layers of actual cheese, not cheesecake. M&S do a nice one, as do lots of other websites. My fiance and I really like the idea of a cheese cake as they look lovely and can add to the evening buffet. Our only issue is how long it will last out of the fridge? We want it out all afternoon during our afternoon tea, but wouldnt want to eat it until the evening. Will it go off or smell the room out?

I've seen this done and it's really lovely! Leaving it out is fine, just stick with harder cheeses (I think you'd have to anyways for the stacking). As far as the smell, the cheeses will be encased in their rind, so that shouldn't be a problem (unless you get a particularly very strong smelling cheese!)

haha! I'm thinking you'd need a fairly large and very sharp knife!

Yes!! One of those cheeses was a nightmare but they had another cake which got passed about so guests were very spoilt. If you like details then you would have loved this wedding!

Waitrose have one, or you could talk to your local cheese shop. We've got a cheese shop about 30s from our venue!

Most cheeses are at their best when at room temperature, so should be fine out for the day.
