wedding colour scheme to fit the Orangery at the Lawn Rochford

Athensbaby, 6 August, 2012 at 12:45 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi all

We are getting married at the Lawn in Rochford next September and are finding it hard to decide what colours will look best in the orangery as there is a heavy yellow influence in the room? We're thinking of just having ivory linen and tie backs but we're not sure what colour flowers and bridesmaids dresses to have to create a theme that suits the room? If anyone has any ideas it would be really appreciated x

Flash a pic of the room? Many of us are inherently lazy and unlikely to Google - or even click through links ?

I can't seem to get the picture up but here's the link: http://www.thelawn.co.uk/gallery_3 I'd have ivory chair covers rather than the yellow chairs..

    We're having our wedding here!!

Our colour scheme is purple/ivory/silver. We've been to see the lawn all prepared for a few weddings recently, one was pinks/oranges/whites. The other was deep blues. Another was different shades of whites and green.

Once it's all set up the yellow is not as obvious!

I was bridesmaid here a few weeks ago and can honestly say I didn't notice lots of yellow! Her colour scheme was pale green and it looked lovely

I don't think it's yellow enough to worry too much about matching everything with it, but I think pale greens and whites/ivories would look lovely in the room. It's still pretty summery in September so you can keep the colours nice and fresh

I love green. If OH didn't reign me in, my wedding would look like Kermit the Frog threw up all over it Smiley smile

When the room is bare, the yellow is really obvious, especially as the seats are yellow,

but when it's dressed, the yellow just fades into the background a bit more, so I don't think you have to be too worried.

Sory for the big pic, it was either that or teeny weeny x

The picture without the chair covers really doesn't do it justice.

My OH was really not bothered about viewing this venue but it is so so so much nicer in real life! I'm excited for our guests to see it in real life!

Well, I think the purple and ivory and silver combination would be best - Yellow and purple are complimentary colours so natually do well together and shouldn't clash too much. Also, I think they purple they used in one of their gallery pics isn't quite bright enough, it should be a clear gem purple, not so much lavender. I actually think that turquoise would work well as well Smiley smile

    Hope that helps

    xx

Thank you for replying. I really like the idea of purple and ivory.. I was thinking of lilac and ivory from the beginning but I'm not sure if its too light for the room... I guess its because we went to a gourmet dinner evening there (really worth trying! the food is great) and it was set up without chair covers so I have yellow in my head!!

That does sound like a good colour - what did they do for flowers?
