Wedding dj worry

Happyyellowflowers13409, 3 June, 2023 at 21:30 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 7
So the venue we booked requires us to use their own DJ. Now the music he plays is different from what we listen to and yes mixing songs may be easy for DJs but i'm still worried even with a playlist he wouldn't be able to mix/play the way we 'really' would like him to? Anyone was in a similar situation and it turnt out fine?

No experience of this, but I'm sorry it's worrying you so much. Have you been able to speak to him directly to express your concerns? Also, can you find any online reviews which might tell you what others thought of his work?

We are in the same position, but I've decided that we will provide the list of songs we like (which are closer to what he'd probably usually play) and then just ignore whatever else is played. We can only control so much, and I'm not going to let myself get worked up over it.

Hi. I would suggest contacting your DJ and giving your taste in music over. I am saying this because our band and DJ have said they know what works for weddings etc but will always take into account what we like aswell so it gets a happy balance for everyone. I do not like that you have to use their DJ it seems unfair I thought they could only suggest and the rest was up to you. Don’t let it worry you though as you say you’ve got a particular taste but other people like a dance aswell to your usual party/wedding classics.

It seems odd you’re forced to use a particular DJ. I can understand a venue having a preference or some have even included it in the package, but I’m amazed they force a particular DJ on you. I will say when we were looking for DJs, not many of them had videos like a band would, so it may have to be going with your gut on this one.

I met our venues preferred DJ at a wedding fayre shortly after we booked the venue, and it was almost an instant no. He wasn’t my cup of tea at all, very much he knew what he wanted to do so it was his way was the only way kind of feel. Glad we looked round, got a great company in, instead, who listened to what we were after and are much more happy to go with a more relaxed set.
