Wedding Dress Deposit overcharge

Hannah, 19 of October of 2023 at 12:30 Posted on Wedding Attire 0 3
Would be grateful for some advice. I tried on a dress in a ex- sample shop. I signed the contract in the shop which states the dress would be held at for 7 days at a cost of 10% of the dress. The following day I realised I had been charged 20% of the dress price not 10%. The contract stipulates the deposit is non - refundable, will I be entitled to a refund of the overcharge as their own contact stated 10%?

Do the T&Cs just state that the deposit is not refundable or that the deposit of 10% is not refundable? If it doesn't specify the amount, you are going to be dependent on their good will as they could easily argue that you chose to put a 20% deposit down.

I would contact them asap to let them know they have overcharged you - assuming you have decided you don't want the dress after all?
