Hi Everyone

Does anyone have any experience of purchasing a wedding dress online from china (through sites such as ebay).

I have found a dream dress, a Mori Lee #1957. Obviously I know its a replica on these sites. But the price is just too good to not consider it. The dress in the UK costs approx £1100. To get in made in China (according to my size measurements etc) and shipped to me will cost £80. They guarantee the quality and can return if not happy.

I just wondered if anyone had any prior experience before I ordered?

Thanks in advance Smiley smile

Have Mori Lee confirmed them as an authorised stockist?

You will most likely have to pay customs charges on delivery at this end - this could be anything from £30 to £100 judging by previous US delivery stories!

I've said this a million times on here, but I got a dress from China, from ASOS marketplace. It was £72 plus £25 delivery. I spent a further £70 on alterations and £30 on a belt. I'm absolutely thrilled with it. However, this is not a replica of a designer dress. I wouldn't have bothered if that's what I was looking as you will end up with a different dress. It will in no way be the same. I'm more than happy to send you pictures of my dress along with the link of the seller, who I would highly reccomend. Also, £600 is a lot for a dress you haven't seen in the flesh, especially as FTLOMB said, there may be extra charges.

You can get lovely designer dresses for that sort of budget, and unworn too! I'm selling this unworn sample Watters Genova gown:

I needed a second wedding dress in reserve, but didn't end up needing it. It's a beauty! I need to get it listed on ebay actually, but if anyone fancies it let me know. I bought it from a bridal store that selling its sample dresses. It was supposed to be £1,200, but I'm looking for £400 (less than I paid). It's a UK size 12-14. I'm based in Kent.

The website says its an authorsied stockist of Mori Lee and the Mori Lee twitter feed has confirmed it.

Also, my grandad lives in America for half of the year before he comes back and see's us. So I was thinking of getting it delivered to him just before he comes back so there would be no customs duties as he never actually brings much back with him so he wouldnt have a problem weight wise with his suitcase. (He has one lots of clothes for there and one lot for here that stay in each country) so he only brings himself back and a few goodies Smiley smile

Have you had a look in stores like Oasis? They've got some beautiful dresses in there. I went in there before I found my dress and their ones were fabulous!

There are no wedding dress high street stores near me so to speak. Our Monsoon used to do them, but since a few months ago they no longer do.

Might have to take a trip up to Meadowhall or the Trafford Centre to see what some of the bigger stores there have if that s what you recommend?

If you know that you want a specific dress why not keep hunting on second hand sites and on ebay? I went to one shop and tried on 5 dresses, found a dress i liked and noted the size of it then went home and looked on ebay. within a fortnight i bought a different dress but by the same designed and in the same size for £150 (inc. postage) and when it arrived i liked it even better than the first one. And the best bit is that it was a sample from a dress shop so it still had all the tags on, i paid less than a tenth of the price. It will need a dry clean but i dont mind because i can flounce about in it at home and not worry about getting a little mark on it.

Admittedly it was a probably a massive fluke as the length and fit is almost perfect...!

If you have the time and are willing to look, there are bargains to be had! However, i was very tempted by a dress from china! I am tempted to get some cheapy bridesmaid dresses as my mum is good with a sewing machine so could alter them to fit better...

Hi, don't know where you live, but try the below link. They claim to have designer dresses in from £150 - £450 save you thousands. I was going to take a trip there myself but ended up getting one in the sale close to where I live. Good Luck x

Love Meadowhall! OH is from Rotherham so go all the time!! Theres some great stores in there and a few little boutiques too. Have a look in some of the designer stores (Ted Baker, All Saints etc) they can sometimes have some fantastic options. xx

I've seen a dress I love from Etsy. it would be handmade in China and tailored to fit me. I'm having similar conflicts about how it looks on a photo versus real life and if it would be a good quality. I've researched the seller and read all their feedback which is very positive. I've also contacted and waiting to hear back from a customer that bought the same dress. Anyone bought a dress from Etsy?
