Wedding dress made to measure on Ebay

cabbey1975, 13 January, 2014 at 10:16 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi there. Has anyone had any experience of getting a wedding dress made to measure from these sellers on Ebay (usually in China). They are so cheap, but I wondered what the quality of the dresses are and whether they actually come up as the correct sizing? Cheers ?

Not sure about the sellers on ebay but check iut www.lightinthebox.com. these are from china too. Seriously considering getting my dress from here. So cheap but have checked loads of reviews of this site via google, youtube etc and they are fantastic.

I will say i have seen a few ebay dresses. My sister in laws being one.

Personally i wouldn't buy one as it can be a risk. You tend to find the colour/fabric when they come are different than the pictures. SOme come with no lining and also can be see through in pics.

If your reason for buying on ebay is price i would suggest you save your money and buy a sample gown in a bridal shop or look at the likes of bhs, debenhams etc...

or go for a compnay like the other poster says inthelightbox. I personally have bought of inthelightbox before and found good to be great.

My fsil had a couple of wedding dresses made to measure from ebay, she wanted to have a choice, they were both fine for the money about £50 each. She chose one and the other she gave to me, it was too big as had been made for her so would need to be altered. I wasnt happy with it as in colour, i wanted ivory so carried on looking. i eventually found the one in a bridal sale and the quality of it compared to the ebay one is amazing and i didnt pay over the odds for it. i was going to have one made by your bridal wear which is in china but they have a uk agent who is very helpful. A lady on here had hers made from them and it was very beautiful.

    hope you get sorted xx

Thanks for all the replies. The quality was one of the things I did wonder about. Someone said to me that I'd be better off getting an end of line dress from a proper bridal store rather than doing this. I guess it is a lot about the price, but some of the designs are beautiful so it is about choice as well. The turnaround time on them is quite quick, so I have time to shop around first and see what's about ?

    Hi,

I got my dress from an Ebay shop from China. The quality is really good on mine and so are the measurements although my measurements have changed now so it will need a little resizing but for the price I paid I can afford any alterations I need. I ordered mine quite early just in case I didn't like it so like you I could find another dress but I love it.

    xx

I'm looking at getting this too. I have found a dress that I love but is not in my budget! My plan is to go shopping again and stick to ones within my budget BUT if I don't fond one that I feel the same about then I'll risk it and go from there!

Don't try to buy it online or in thailand. Please girls, it's such an important part of your day. If not the most important (except the groom haha). If you are not comfortable, it will reflex negative on the whole experience....

I recently bought a Mori Lee copy on ebay, from China. Wasn't made to measure, but cost £42 including postage. Quality does refelect the price, but took the chance thinking if it was really bad I hadn't lost a huge amount of money. In the end, it's a lovely dress and only those in the know will know the difference, but the top does need a bit of altering as it's far too big in the front. I hope to be able to do that, but even so, if I can't and need to get a professional to look at it I've still saved money. Personally I can't justify spending huge sums on a dress I will wear for one afternoon in a register office, so this will do me fine ?.

If you search Brides Beware on Facebook you may change your mind! Countless examples of poor quality work. I expect there are some that are good and if you can spare that money it might be worth the risk (and you have the time to find an alternative if needed).

Definitely have a look at Brides Beware before you decide. Good luck with it Smiley smile x
