Wedding dress pressing

Jess, 17 January, 2022 at 16:18 Posted on Wedding Attire 0 3

I said yes to the dress over the weekend and as we're all increasingly aware they are a lot of extra costs on top of the price of your dress.

One of the things that was offered in store which I said I would think about what a discounted package which included my dress being pressed and steamed before I picked it up. Is it worth paying for this service?

I hardly think that the dress will be given to me like a piece of rag, especially as I imagine they store the dresses in dress bags on rails, but part of me thinks it's not worth the risk to go without it!

If you do think it's worth it, can you recommend any places to go as I wanted to compare the prices elsewhere with the price quoted by the bridal shop?

Thanks so much!

Congratulations on finding your dress! If you are picking up a week or so before then is worth it, but if is months out I would probably not and then get a dry cleaner to do it a few days before. Maybe worth calling some and seeing the cost Vs quote from the bridal shop, to be fair, mine are doing it as standard and at no extra cost

It depends on how much they are charging and how soon before the wedding you are collecting it. It can take hours to steam & press a wedding dress, especially if it has a lot of embroidery or beading, but most boutiques I looked at did the pressing as part of the service anyway.

Congratulations on finding your dress 🥰. Are they fitting it for you? If so it’s worth it.

I bought mine from wed2be and am having it fitted seperately so the lady doing that will be doing the steaming and pressing for me.
