Wedding Dress Shops

Hi I just wondered with shops due to open in the next few months, I will need to think about a dress . How many shops, dresses do you tend to try on. I’m very open minded and don’t have a dream dress.

    Hey,

In total I tried on 5 dresses at two different shops. Make sure you try on a variety of dress types, just to give you an idea of the shapes and how they fit and feel.

I am a very self conscious person, with not a lot of confidence, so I just let the lady who owned the shop pick out the ones she thought would be good, and in the end she found the dream dress I didn't know I wanted!

I tried on 10 dresses across 2 stores. I wasn’t at my ideal weight (I’d gained at least 1.5stone over lockdown 1.0 which I’ve thankfully lost since then) so felt very self conscious and think that fed into my wanting a simple dress.

Haven’t tried on my dress since then but looking on line I’m almost thankful for feeling that way as now think I’m going to look amazing in the dress as my waist has returned.
Like you I didn’t have a dream dress I just wanted to look as good as I could. I went in knowing I wouldn’t want a strapless or tight dress (I wouldn’t wear that in normal life) so sent some photos of the types of dresses I liked. In the end the 2nd store bought out a dress I’d said I liked though I didn’t recognise it at my larger size then made some customisation suggestions to make it fit my extended brief. So excited to try it on.
I’d say don’t be so focused on a feeling- some get it, some don’t (personally I think it’s down to the person). If you like the dress then go for it x

I went to one shop, tried on 5 dresses and put a deposit down for one of those. But I didn't end up wearing it because travel restrictions in Wales only lifted a couple of days before our wedding (the shop was in England) so I couldn't get it altered & collected in time, so ended up having to try a few by mail order.

So my total was either one shop and five dresses if you only count the original dress, or 4 shops and 9 dresses if you include the mail order ones/replacement dress!

    Hey,

I went to one shop and tried on 5 dresses.
The style that I thought I wanted (mermaid) just didn’t work for me, and I ended up with something entirely different.
I’ve read and heard the more you try on, the more difficult it becomes as your head can become a bit muddled with all of the options.
Maybe use Pinterest to get some initial ideas and see if a bridal store nearby stocks them? There’s also Wed2Be that stock a big variety of dresses!

    Hello,

If you want to save some money and be eco friendly but have the potential of bagging a designer dress, I would suggest looking at vintage and resale sites. Local dry cleaners will be able to adjust seams and do alterations. Maybe try Bride2bride, I've been looking at some really beautiful gowns.
