Wedding dress sleeves

Angeline, 8 December, 2021 at 22:58 Posted on Wedding Attire 0 3
Hi
Was just wondering if anyone has had sleeves altered on their dress or custom sleeves added. I have got my dress but I am slowly falling out of love with it due to the sleeves. I think I would prefer a more illusion sleeve than the ones on it that are full lace. I like everything else about it other than the sleeves. I’ve seen a picture online of someone in the same dress that has altered the sleeves just don’t know if it’s going to be a lot of work and money. Can’t help looking online at other dresses now I love a lot of the sleeveless enzoani dresses more but need to have sleeves due to a skin problem I wouldn’t feel comfortable which is upsetting me. Thanks Wedding dress sleeves 1

I guess you are best to take the dress to a seamstress and see what is possible first and get a quote. I personally like the fuller sleeve (pic 1) as it flows with the dress style and the back paneling and looks really elegant, but if you are really not liking it then see what can be done, at least then you will know what options you have.

I think the sleeves really go well too, especially with the back! But you need to feel good and comfortable in it, so if it’s really not what you’d like I’d take it to a dressmaker (maybe one who specialises in wedding dresses) and see what they can do. The boutique I bought my dress from they’re all dressmakers and they’re very capable of altering other brand’s dresses to achieve the look you want, so I’m sure you should be able to find someone who can do (or knows if you can’t do) what you’re looking for

I don't think you'll know what's possible until you ask an expert really. I would go to some local seamstresses or send them photos via email and ask them what they think is possible and how much it would cost. But I think it's a gorgeous dress as it is and hopefully it's the case where you haven't seen it in a while and you just need to slip it on and fall in love again!
