Wedding dress worry

RomanticBrownStationery29719, 26 October, 2020 at 13:53 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hi everyone.

Just looking for some opinions/ reassurance I guess.

Today i braved it and ordered my wedding dress.

My worry is that its a very fitted mermaid style dress which is strapless with a sweetheart neckline style "Meg" by enzoani. I ordered a size 12 as my hips are quite wide (same as sample size). However when they meassured my top/my bust would have been a size 4. The shop assistant suggested buying a size 10 (as i was only 0.5-1 inch too big on the hip for that) as she felt the top would not look the same/ as good once altered, but I just didnt dare to gamble on being able to loose the weight. I was worried I would not be able to move in it without struggle if I do not loose the weight. I spoken to the seamstress and she thinks she can downsize the top about 4 sizes but now I am worried it will look a lot different when the top is getting adjusted.

Anyone having their dress downsized a lot on top and experience how it affects the neckline? I might be overthinking this but I took so long to decided on a style that I am now worried the adjustments needed might make it less good looking.

Would you guys order the smaller size and just vigorous diet if needed?
Thanks for any opinion

Personally, no, but then I'm incredibly food-oriented!!!

Seamstresses who work with wedding dresses do amazing work! If the seamstress thinks she can do it, she probably can Smiley smile

No, I wouldn't drop a size! If you want to lose a bit of weight to feel your best, then go for it (you can always have the whole thing taken in), but you should enjoy being engaged and the run up to the wedding. I doubt you will be able to do that if you spend all your days worrying at every meal about whatever amount of weight you have to lose to even get in your dress.
