Wedding “entertainment”

Zoe, 12 of May of 2022 at 06:27 Posted on Planning 0 10
Hey lovelies!!!
So entertainment on the day?!?
Does everyone have something booked?I don’t…. We have everything in one place, a country house style venue…. Ceremony at 2….meal at 4…… I just imagined people would be happy to relax in the location, mingle ect, between food , speeches. But then I thought “oh gosh do I need a magician or something”…. Also thought, FFs they’re mainly adults, they shouldn’t need “entertainment” Haha! Budget is pretty much gone now…. Thoughts? What did people do that worked well. Thanks all xx

You don’t “need” entertainment in my opinion. We are not having anything except the DJ and a photo booth in the evening. After the ceremony and before the meal there will be time for mingling, photos and chatting. We are getting married in Brooklands museum so the guests are able to go and look at all the transport and aviation exhibits if they want. Concorde is even there so there is enough to do and see! And with a country house manor location people will be happy to talk and eat and drink.

I don't think you wont have time for any entertainment really.

Ceremony at 2 means that you wont be fully out and mingling until 2.30

Meal at 4 depends - is that call in at 4 to eat at 4.15 or is that eat at 4 which would mean call in at 3.45 - or even earlier if there are a lot of guests.

So you could end up with only 1.15 hours for mingling chatting and photos.

Looking at after the meal timings with speeches you could be looking at finishing at 6.30 and then if you are having extra evening guests they would be arriving around 7 pm

Amazing thankyou, that’s really giving me some perspective!!!! I’ll stop worrying about needing to entertain people for a short period of time…… and just let them enjoy the ambiance. If they’re bored it’s just coz they’re boring!!! 😂😂

I don't think entertainment is a must in wedding celebration, and I don't think there is enough time for it.

You’ve got a really similar timeline to us and we haven’t got loads planned. We’re doing background music for the drinks reception and meal and then a DJ for the evening. We aren’t getting a photo booth as we’re doing a Polaroid guestbook. We’re debating hiring one casino table for after the meal and the start of the evening but that isn’t set in stone. I don’t really think you need a lot. We’ve been to weddings with magicians etc and found that they didn’t really bring anything to the day.

Your timeline is similar to ours too, and I have been worrying about the same thing. We (I!) have decided people will probably be OK just mingling and chatting.

    Hope that helps!

I agree….. we actually had a family Sunday dinner yesterday, about 1/4 of the people who will be there on our wedding day….. we sat down at 4 ( so same time as the wedding breakfast) and before we knew it , it was 7pm….. and we only had 2 courses!!!
    Everyone was chatting…👍🏻👍🏻
    Have a great day xx

    Nope!
Our photographer sets up a PhotoBooth in the evening and then of course we have a DJ…. We do have about a 2 hour gap between the meal and evening guests arriving, but I plan on using this for mingling! Ours is a summer wedding so I’m hoping people will just be happy to have a drink outside on the patio area x
