Wedding Fairs - grooms attending?

Nicky, 27 March, 2023 at 01:08 Posted on Planning 0 4
I've booked tickets to attend a wedding fair in London next Saturday. I didnt really think about it and just bought tickets for me, my mum and groom. He's said he will come but I can tell he is thinking he will be the only man there. Anyone else's hubby to be attending wedding fairs with them?

The only wedding fair we did was by accident, because we turned up to look at a potential venue and didn't realise they had a wedding fair on that day! But my OH wasn't the only man present. And I have a couple of friends who are wedding photographers and they say it is usual to have the couple attend together these days. Years ago, they saw more of the bride + mum or best friend, but now it is much more common for grooms to show an interest, especially in things like catering and photos. Women still outnumber men slightly, but not enough that your OH is likely to feel the odd one out!

    Hi Nicky!

It's not usual for men to be at wedding fayres, nor is it for future brides to go with just their wedding party. I think it's more of the case of whether your man is having an interest / participating in the choosing of the wedding details.

    It's your wedding, #youdoyou

    Hope this helps,

    A.

My FH attended one wedding fair with me. They had some stalls about stag do activities and suits, so he spoke to them and we ended up finding his wedding ring too. He really enjoyed it. I think its good for Grooms to go too.

The only one I wouldn't take the Groom to is the National Wedding Show. That is very much aimed at the Brides and I think if I had taken my FH to that, he would have been very bored.

From displaying at many weddings fairs I would say that men are the minority in attendance.

If you think about it its no wonder really as unless everyone go's just as a hetro couple then it tends to be bride, mum, bridesmaids 1 or 2 and then a groom so he is outnumbered 4-1 and times that by the whole room and add those that are just all mums and bridesmaids groups with no groom then you get the picture.

I get grooms come to my display - I ask do you need a photographer and they say no but they have just been told to go away while the bride looks at dresses ! and shoes and accessories.

For some people it may be an idea to go to some as a couple and others with just all the women.
