Wedding favours

Chrispot22, 22 January, 2022 at 20:32 Posted on Planning 0 10
I'm getting married in a few months and I don't know if favours are worth doing? I wasn't going to bother but was open to the idea of edible ones like cookies or cake pops. My fiancé likes the idea of people having the keepsakes. I can't think of anything that is affordable and worth keeping.
Any suggestions?

I agree, as much as it is a nice idea for a keepsake I don't think people are bothered, let's be great neat they will end up in a drawer gathereing dust. We are getting love hearts made with our names and the date and just scattering on the table. I honestly don't think people are expecting favours nowadays, is an old tradition but is nice to do a little something.

If you want to do them, they can make a nice table decoration, but I'd stick to edibles - that always goes down well.

I did go to one wedding where the bride had made little lavender bags in the shape of hearts, using the same fabric as her bridesmaids' dresses and the groomsmens' waistcoats. I've still got mine years later, but it must have been a lot of work for her. And to be honest, I'd have been just as happy with the box of fudge that all the men got Smiley laugh

I’m with you, we weren’t going to do any either as everything seems so expensive and can’t imagine people take them home, but now we’re having some cookies made by a local baker, any left behind I’ll happily eat anyway haha

We're doing flavoured olive oils (e.g. chilli oil/garlic oil). So they're edible at home but the bottle could be a keepsake? The good thing about this is that if anyone leaves them we can just put them in a large bottle and use it over the year.

I don't rhink we will be having favours. I don't think people want to take stuff home for more clutter. I did think about scratch cards for a bit of fun but even that £1 each soon adds up.

We are doing individual biscuits with each guests name on, going to use them instead of name cards on the table as well!

I agree something edible / drink is best, there are always so many left over on tables if not!!

Ooh we’re planning on doing cookie namecards too! I think we’re gonna get The Alabama Biscuit to do them because she’s amazing! https://instagram.com/thealabamabiscuit

I always forget to take the favour home when I go to a wedding! Things happen and I get distracted and it's not until the next day that I remember there was a favour!

Instead we're choosing a charity and will be donating the money we would have otherwise spent on favours Smiley smile The charity may even provide pins or badges with their logo on so people can take those home if they wish!

I felt the exact same. I feel they’re just a waste of money that people say ‘aw that’s cute’ then forget about. However we really love sparkler photos and our photographer is amazing at them. He suggested using the sparklers as the favours with a little tag. £25 for the sparklers and £15 for the tags to attach. BARGAIN!
