Wedding favours

Keri, 18 of August of 2022 at 11:29 Posted on Planning 0 17
Do people still do wedding favours for their guests, I’m not sure if it’s still expected or not?

It's generally done but most people don't make a big thing of them - usually a chocolate on the plate or a mini bottle of booze, some people have things like a sweet station in lieu of favours. Anything a bit cheap or monogrammed with the date tends to get left behind, so unless you really go to town with something lovely, something consumable is the way to go Smiley smile

Saying that, no one misses them if you don't bother with favours!

Thank you, I’m getting married in Dec and was thinking about maybe a Christmas tree decoration or something like that, but also don’t want to waste my money if they are not really done anymore

Aww that's a cute idea! I'd just go for something classic and not monogrammed - people won't hang your name or date on their tree but probably would hang a pretty bauble or something and it would still remind them of your wedding Smiley smile

We weren’t keen on favours as lots of people say they are a waste of money. In the end we went for chocolates with guests names on them which double up as their names on the tableWedding favours 1

It’s definitely something you can skip if you choose. No-one would notice. I’ve only done them because I work for a chocolate company and got a discount

We did mini packs of Love Hearts which you can get personalised with the date and your names from the company that makes them. It’s just a sticker you put on the outside of the packet. We put them in mini organza bags from Amazon and added a couple of jelly babies as my husband used to bring me jelly babies when we first dated so that was personal to us.

We made a charity donation instead and put little cards on the tables to tell people what we’d done. If anyone felt they’d missed out on favours, they didn’t tell us but a couple of people did tell us they loved that we donated instead.

Sweet cart for us. the cart is provided by the venue so we just have to buy the sweets for it. we may do a donation though.

our coordinator warned us off spending silly money on favours as shes lost count how many times over her years as coordinator that they have been left behind, as lovely as they were.

We've personally decided against wedding Favours, and instead will donate the allocated favours money to plant trees. X
