For the kids I'm giving them their drinks in a mason glass drinking jar - it will have a tag on it with their name and a message 'take me home'. This will be their place name, favour and a way to avoid spillages. I got 24 for £16.56 so 69p each. Probably won't need them all so will sell the extras.

For the adults we're doing 50ml bottles of homemade limoncello and strawberry vodka. Again they'll have name tags on so will double up as place names.

All the tags will also have a small reminder of their menu choices.

Not sure about the adults who don't drink alcohol - not many - probably small bags of fudge.

Celticcurl I hope you don't mind me asking but how are you making strawberry and limoncello vodka. My family are Italian mainly my grandparents and it would be a nice touch for them. But I can't find a recipe online!

I always think anything edible is great, and never gets left on the tables. Most can be made beforehand too and cheaply. Some ideas:

    - Gingerbread. Can double as a placename if iced

    - Oils or vinegars infused with rosemary, garlic, chilli or mint

    - Chutney/caramelised onion/chilli jam

    - Jam/jelly

    - Marshmallows, honeycomb, fudge, coconut ice

    - Chocolate melted, add things like glace cherries, nuts, coconut, dried fruit then put into heart shaped moulds

    - Flavored popcorn

Daniellax - sorry if I wasn't clear, they are two separate drinks - we're making both. that said you've given me an idea now so might try mixing some and seeing what it tastes like.

The strawberry vodka - start by making the concentrate. Prepare two punnets of strawberries in the normal way and put in a large jar (kilner or similar) cover with a bottle of vodka and seal. Leave for at least two weeks, shaking occasionally. Strain through a plastic sieve and then again through coffee filters. Mix concentrate with vodka in a proportion of 1 to 4. Add sugar to taste - note that all the online recipes state a far too high a level of sugar. You don't need anything like this amount. Add gradually and keep tasting until you're happy. Make sure you don't need to drive anywhere after this stage ?

The limoncello - friends of ours made our concentrate but I understand it is done in the same way using the lemon rind. Look online for recipes. But again, do not add the amount of sugar they state - it will be sickly sweet. You can add more but not take it out!

If you decide to make some let me know if you want the name of the ebay seller I'm buying the little bottles from. I haven't ordered them yet so can't actually recommend the supplier but having done a lot of research they appear to be the best priced by far.

I've never worked out how to quote on here..

VegasBrideBecca14, i was originally hoping to get married in Monkey World, primates are my passion, but it just wasn't do-able due to distance - no one would come lol, but i still wanted to include my primate passion somehow so when i saw yours i had a light bulb moment, i contacted Monkey World who were happy for me to use their logo, and i played around on vistaprint and came up with these:

I think i'll just buy a selection of pins and do them randomly

I'm considering using primate names instead of table numbers too, Orangutans, Chimps etc etc ... just need to find a way to diy that..

Everyone knows i'm crazy about primates so it won't come as a surprise to anyone lol ..

I don't know if you have ever looked into it, but i'd avoid RSPCA personally, they aint as great as you'd think....

Smurfette - how about using monkey puzzle trees for your centre and either writing the names on the pots or putting a plaque on a stick sticking out of the plant.

Or get MDF/plywood monkey shapes and attach to a stick and write the name on.

Aww really?, no, they are the most adorable things ever... that said, im terrified of birds/butterflies etc, anything that has flapping wings, freaks me out so much.. i'm all good with pictures etc, but the thought of anything flying near me scares the crap out of me, so i can understand.. i will double check there are no monkey phobias haha

Oh they do, and cheap (always a bonus!) the only thing on the monkey world site would be coat hangers, they are nice, like shadow shapes of different primates, black with a hook, which i could hang the name off, but they are like £15 each, bit steep for a table name lol

Threads evolve naturally and the OP hasn't responded to any suggestions anyway - maybe she thinks all our ideas are crap?

I wasn't aware of it till a few years ago when i met, now one of my best friends in the world, a girl at work, she is really into dogs, has worked at kennels etc, and she told some horror stories about rspca, she hates them... it's sad really like you say, most people assume they are the good guys Smiley sad
