Wedding gift for your groom??

SunnyBrownDiamonds138, 8 February, 2015 at 23:02 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi, I don't know if this is a tradition, but I've seen a few people do it and think it is a nice idea.

My thought pattern went something like this:

There are material gifts I could get him that he would love i.e a new phone, play station 4 - but things break and not such a memorable gift maybe?

Something a bit more special - a designer watch, cuff links etc (but I've brought him these before!)

maybe something from one of his favour designers? Ted baker?

Now I have been thinking of buying him some once in a lifetime experiences. Part of our honeymoon is in Orlando, so was thinking of getting some some wind tunnel flights and swimming with dolphin tickets?

Is anyone else doing this? What ideas have you been thinking of?

    I'm making min e a scrapbook ?

We're not allowed to deviate from the wording on the register office ceremony, so I will be writing my own vows to put in, and will stick in pictures from our lives together with poems, sayings and song lyrics that I find particularly appropriate.

We will be together during the morning, so will give him something like a bottle of whiskey with our date on it, and maybe personalised wine glasses (he doesn't do 'trinkets'). Then will give the scrapbook to the best man to give him after we've gone our separate ways to get ready after lunch

Me and the other half always had a running joke that he would buy me a massive diamond ring as long as I bought him a Tag heuer watch, well I now have the Diamond so I guess its time I lived up to my side and bought him a tag!

I am going to wrap it up with a note saying that he now has no excuse for being late!

So far I'm getting him an engraved bottle of his favourite whiskey and the below t-shirt for the day after. Just need to think of a few more ideas.

I'm going to give him a photo book which will be a bit of timeline of our relationship, I'm also going to buy him a bottle of Chanel Bleu, it was the fragrance he was wearing on our first date.

I feel a bit cheap now but whatever!

I already flashed this once today, but who can resist another cheeky flash!

I got H2B this moomin print. It was only £10 but I looved it as soon as I saw it!

He has always joked about me buying him a watch that matched the price of my ring but....

I intend to get my OH a pocket watch to wear on the day. I will probably get it engraved as well with the date or something. Could be something nice to hand down as we grow old Smiley smile

I got my hubby a Tag, he's always wanted 1 but would never have bought it for himself. I wasn't sure I would get the tag so had bought some bits and bobs beforehand; engraved pen, a hip flask, bottle of grey goose, track suit bottoms and hoody for snuggling at home

I have been a bit OTT and bought mine an omega. I really want him to have something special to keep from the day, now to pay it off without him noticing! (Thank god for a variable income! 'Ooh, had a couple of lean months babe... :p' I'm going for the 'don't be late!' note and getting one of my bridesmaids to give to him before the ceremony.

I love the idea of exchanging gifts. My husband and I have a sketch of my wedding dress and his suit. Something we can both enjoy.

I'm doing a gift box with different layers in it; the first layer will be Peanut Butter Cups (OH's favourite sweet from the holiday where we got engaged) "because love is sweet", the second layer will be socks "to keep the cold feet away", the third layer will be a small bottle of alcohol "to calm your nerves", and the final layer will be a watch "to make it to the church on time". It's OH's birthday on the wedding day too, so it doubles up as both.

I've also had one of these cards printed for him: http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/rubywren/product/personalised-days-i-ve-loved-you-card and I'm going to write a love note in there. I can't wait for him to have it Smiley smile

I like the lifetime experience idea! That sounds immense.

I'm going to get my future hubby a watch as he loves them and it would be cute to get it engraved. I'm also going to do a gift box for him to open the night before or on the morning of the wedding with some funny bits and bobs in like 'socks in case you get cold feet' etc
