Wedding gift lists - pros and cons

This has probably been posted many times in the past, but I thought I'd resurrect the question!

OH and I hadn't planned on having a gift list, but we have thought of a few things we might like, so we've decided to make a mini one. But the things that we would put on it are all from different shops! So the usual one-shop lists like John Lewis, Debenhams etc are out. Has anyone used an online multi-shop list? Can you recommend some good ones that don't restrict what you can select?
